NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST | CAPTURING THE NIGHT | WEEK 12 | Sleeping flowers

in Traveling Steem2 months ago

I will not be mistaken if I assume that every person who held a camera in their hands had special moments while using it.

I bought my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX300 camera at the end of 2015 if my memory serves me correctly and often used it for other purposes, treating it like an ordinary point-and-shoot camera that photographs everything as it wants and the human factor is completely excluded there except for pressing the camera shutter button while taking a photo.

This went on for a very long time, until nature forced me to change it.

It was a night a very hot July night in 2018.

The heat was so intense that even the rain that fell in the evening did not give us any coolness on the contrary the air became thick like jelly but hot jelly a disgusting comparison lol.

My wife and I couldn’t sleep and decided to take a walk to the park in the hope that the air there would be cooler and this would allow us to get some sleep.

We got into the car and drove to the park.

It was already midnight and there were very few people in the park but they were, one might say our like-minded people in search of coolness.

Walking into the park I saw a lawn on which there were purple flowers and the raindrops that lingered on the petals sparkled in the dim light of the lampposts which were located several dozen yards away from us.

I knew that my camera was very picky about lighting but at that moment I decided to take a chance and turned the settings wheel, switching the camera from automatic settings mode to manual photography settings mode.

I no longer remember the ISO and shutter speed I set at the time, it was a long series of trial and errors, but in the end I got a few photographs that I considered to be something that could be called the phrase “night photography”.

Moreover we can say that these were night macro photographs or more precisely, pseudo-macro since I cannot replace the lens of my camera with a macro lens and used only the wide-format photography capabilities that my camera allowed.

You know at that moment I felt a transition to the next level in the field of photography and since then I forgot that my camera has an automatic settings mode.

Just a hot evening a walk trying to take photographs but I remember that moment forever.

I hope that then with my presence I did not awaken the sleeping flowers to which the raindrops added coolness.

Dear friend

The hot July night provided the perfect backdrop for your experimentation with night photography, revealing the hidden beauty of sleeping flowers adorned with raindrops. Your journey into manual settings marked a significant milestone in your photographic journey. Have a great day 😊

Sometimes it becomes a little scary to change what you get used to and what becomes the norm, lol, at such moments you can appreciate the heat :)
