Whatever you are doing, you are getting better at it!

The human brain is a network of approximately 100 billion neurons, and whatever you are doing, neural connections will be created.

Depending on which neurons get stimulated, you'll have connections that will become stronger and others that will become weaker.

So whenever we learn a new skill, we are changing how our brain is wired on a deep level. We actually become better at whatever it is we focus on!

This is what they call neuroplasticity. Let me link the definition from wikipedia here as well:

Neuroplasticity, also known as brain plasticity or neural plasticity, is an umbrella term that describes lasting change to the brain throughout an individual's life course. The term gained prominence in the latter half of the 20th century, when new research showed that many aspects of the brain can be altered (or are "plastic") even into adulthood. This notion is in contrast with the previous scientific consensus that the brain develops during a critical period in early childhood and then remains relatively unchanged (or "static").

Did you read that?! Even when we get older our brain still changes and we can still rewire ourselves into becoming smarter, better, faster,.... Kanye style! So no more excuses mkay!

Virtually any sort of skill can be created through training. Look at Rüdiger Gamm for example who used to fail at math and became a famous mental calculator, capable of performing extremely complex mathematics!

Isn't this amazing news? Instead of looking up to other people, you can actually become them! You just have to take responsibility, work on becoming more self aware and focus yourself on whatever it is you want to get better at!

Since everything depends on which neurons you have been stimulating throughout your life, it might be interesting to know this goes both ways and also counts for negative thinking. So what are you going to do about that?

Really enjoyed this post. What are your thoughts on the pineal gland? Do you think that might have an effect on the health of the brain and cognitive function? Great Post!

Don't have enough knowledge about it yet tbh :) Interested in these things, but still in the learning process here myself. I just love sharing what I come across already and what I liked and didn't like or what I learned...

It's always good to learn more and expand the mind with new knowledge. I'm always amazed with the studies of memory and what determines healthy long term cognitive function. I'm sure its a combination of many factors but I know diet can play a huge role. I've heard many good things about MCT coconut oil, omega 3 fats, turmeric, bacopa, lions mane, and magnesium for brain and overall health. I think I might do a post about it soon and I'll be sure to share once I'm done. Have a great week and keep on learning. :)

Definitely do! Would love to read up about that! Good luck! :)

Thanks for sharing!Great article!

Reminds me of a new movie in 2017 called Eve I think and it had Morgan Freeman as a doctor and Scarlet Johansson played a girl that got drugs in her body because mafia stuck blue crystals in her body which gave her ability to us 10 per cent of her brain and then 20 and then 30 and, spoiler alert, it kept getting high.
.
Can we do that?

Ah ye! Think I heard of that one! Was it a good movie? :) Sounds like a nice upgrade!

amazing movie
