Thanksgiving TurkeysteemCreated with Sketch.

in #needleworkmonday7 years ago

Hello fellow needleworkers! I just finished my Thanksgiving Turkey in honour of all Americans getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving Day.

The pattern is called Peacock Doily and came from an old issue of Crochet Magazine. (more info can be found on ravelry.com)
After making the peacock, I always wanted to do it in fall colours as a turkey!

I like them both! Do you have a favourite?

Thanks to @croshielle for starting #needlework monday

Wow! Very beautifull!

Thank you very much!

Wow!!!!! amazing work!!!! bright and beautiful !!!!!

Thanks..I knew you would like the bright colours!

Wow, that is really impressive! So crazy that basically changing the colors changes the animal and the look so much! What do you do with these? They are so cute - you have quite a talent! Thanks for sharing! :)

Thank you! One day I would like to set up a booth at a market and start selling them. But for now, they are sitting in a huge pizza box all blocked, starched and ready! I give some away to friends and family too. I just enjoy making them. I guess it's like someone who loves to bake, but one can only eat so much so then what to do! At least these will stay fresh indefinitely!

Lol - yes, they will stay fresh until you give them away. Really cool that they're ready if you get to set up a booth. I'm sure they would do well! They're amazing!

This is amazing!! What yarn did you use? You've got a lovely stitch.

Thank you! I used Aunt Lydia's #10 cotton thread and a 1.7 mm hook.

I love them both!!! I love the Fall colors on the turkey and I love the bright fun colors of the peacock!!! You lady are quite amazing at these doilies!!!! 😍❤️ What do you do with all of your doilies? Do you keep them for decorations or give some away? Resteemed!!!

Thank you, and thanks for the resteem! I give some away for gifts, but most of them are starched and in a big box. I don't even really decorate with them much. I just enjoy making things. Maybe one day I will get a booth at a market and try to sell some!

You are so welcome! Oh my I think you should take them to a market! I’m sure you will sell ALL of them! 😉

Soooo cute! I want one... can it fly over the ocean? I love both but I would prefer the darker one - I really like the color combination and the turkey has such a nice facial expression.
I am always amazed that you can work with such a thin yarn.

Thank you! Hmmm, can turkeys even fly? I don't know 😀 Size 10 thread is a lot thicker than some...I have seen doilies made with sewing thread! Now that is thin!

I am sorry... you wrote it, but I was so fixed on Thanksgiving, that I did not understood that these are both peacocks. But nevertheless I love the brown one and yes I asked it and it can fly :-D
Sewing thread crochet - Really???? I would need medication afterwards.

No, you are right! The brown one IS a turkey! See, he has a red wattle on his face!

That's very colorful!! I'm having a hard time to pick one..... both are so cute :)

Thank you! I like them both too. I can't pick a favourite.

wonderful work! they are lovely!

Thank you kindly!
