WOX TRAVEL CONTEST - A Walk Around Tula

I want to introduce my readers to the ancient Russian city of Tula. I'm going to take a little sightseeing tour of this city.
What do I know about Tula? The first official mention of this city dates back to 1146. This city is 1 year older than Moscow.
It is a city of samovars, gingerbreads, and gunsmiths. It was here that Danila lived, a master who managed to shoe an English flea without having any magnifying devices available.

On the city's central square is a monument to gingerbread with the inscription "For luck. Tula gingerbread has been known since 1685".

Tula State Museum of Weapons
Naturally, there should be a weapons museum in the city of gunsmiths. 4 floors of various small arms. You can see many exhibits from different countries since the 17th century: muskets, rifles, pistols, assault rifles, heavy machine guns and light machine guns, aviation machine guns, and hunting rifles.
We very successfully went to the museum with my son-in-law in the evening 2 hours before closing time. The next day I saw a huge queue in front of the museum. I didn't expect to see this.

A walk through the Tula Kremlin is a separate story and is not included in the scope of this sightseeing tour. We walked on its territory for about 2 hours. The day was warm and sunny. After a walk through the Kremlin, we went out to the Embankment. This is a wonderful walking area, a significant place of recreation for citizens and guests of the city.

Monument to the Tula samovar

There is such a large samovar on the territory of the Kremlin. What is a samovar? This is a kettle inside which a fire is kindled and thus water boils. As a child, it seemed to me that the most delicious tea was prepared only in such samovars. My grandmother had a samovar and tea was made in it only on holidays.

Due to the limited time, we could not visit any samovar museums, but we visited the gingerbread museum at the main gingerbread factory. Gingerbread is made in many places in the city and there are several similar museums, but we decided to go to the main museum, which was visited even by the first persons of our country.
As souvenirs, we bought gingerbread cookies from this factory in the store, which is located in the same building. A very large selection of gingerbread to taste and size!

After a walk around the city, you want to sit, relax, eat, and even have a little beer or stronger drinks. To do this, there are many good restaurants and recreation areas in the city with small cafes or fast food.

Well, friends, I hope you enjoyed this little walk through the old Russian city of Tula. I visited this city in the last days of April with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. This city is about 1300 km away from my house. I would like to visit Tula again, I like this city. I also really liked the Central City Park. During my trips to different cities, I compare it with my hometown. Tula has clearly won!
