SEC17 WK:#6: My Family, My Pride!

This contest makes me feel emotional, not because I have a detached family, but tears of joy as a gratitude to God for the family he has placed me in. Nobody is perfect, families can at some point experience difficulty and crisis but it shouldn't extend to or depend on the outside world to give solutions or suggestions on what to do. I get the word now, there shouldn't be a third party in settling problems in our families, it's problems shouldn't escalate. I see cases where a husband quarrels with the wife and the wife's brother comes to beat the husband, I have also seen cases where stepbrothers or even biological siblings fight until it escalate to been taken to court.

The above is not the case in my family, we are just 6, mum, dad, two boys, and two girls making it an equilibrium of 3 males, and 3 females. Mum loves Dad, Dad reciprocates and vice versa. I am grateful and I stand to adopt this standard because I have never seen Dad raise his hands on Mum or shout at her as if he is talking to a kid, not even in secret nor in our presence. If there is a little misunderstanding it will be settled that day or next but we may not be aware most especially the younger ones. Mum on her part doesn't refuse to give Dad food, my dad can never resist her food because this is the easiest way to settle a dispute, even if he is not invited he will join and he will always lick his mouth and commend her for the food we'll cook and serve.

For my siblings, we have been doing our best, even though at times young ones seem to stir up our anger on their forgetfulness to carry out chores in our absence we still maintain peace. My junior sister is very troublesome but we seem to understand her because she is the last born, she is beginning to change even though we keep on correcting her every day. My younger brother is very calm and he loves to construct and play a lot, he is very obedient and doesn't complain, which is why most times I rarely disturb him when he is tired.

There is no place like home, you may be rejected everywhere but your family won't because blood is thicker than water. My family is a nuclear family so I may not know much about extended families. I doubt that love spreads among extended families because there are some aorta of jealousy, hatred, pride, and competition, I mean, it is different individuals we are talking about etc. I am proud of my family and I believe if I were a gift to them I would be numerous, a breadwinner, happiness, peace, joy, and love. Nothing would be more than this.
