약국 문 닫기 바로 직전 magic mouthwash 처방을 들고 한 환자가 왔습니니다.

이 처방은 여러 약물을 직접 compounding (혼합 조제)을 해 주어야 하는 약물입니다.
처방마다 약간의 차이는 있지만 기본 magic mouthwash 는
diphenhydramine (Benadryl): viscous lidocaine: antacid = 1: 1: 1 조성이며,
여기에 nystatin, prednisone, doxycycline 등 추가하거나 대체하기도 합니다.

• antibiotic 항생제 - to prevent or stop bacterial infection 박테리아 감염의 예방 및 치료
• antifungal 항진균제 - to prevent or stop a fungal infection 진균 감염의 예방 및 치료
• numbing drug 국소 마취제 - to soothe pain (lidocaine) 진통 효과
• antihistamine 항히스타민 - to bring down swelling (diphenhydramine) 부종 감소
• steroid drug 스테로이드 - to lower inflammation 염증 감소
• antacid 지산제 - to help the mouthwash coat your mouth (aluminum hydroxide, magnesium, or kaolin) 구강 점막 보호

보통 구내염에 사용되며 swish and spit 의 사용법을 가지고 있습니다.

swish and spit: 입안에서 오랫동안 가글 후 뱉을 것
swish and swallow: 입안에서 오랫동안 가글 후 삼킬 것

일부 의사들은 S&S 라고만 기재하는 경우도 있어 "swish and spit" 인지 "swish and swallow" 인지 반드시 확인해야 합니다.
