David Seaman and Youtube

in #youtube8 years ago

Anyone that follows David Seaman knows about all the trouble he and many others are experiencing with Youtube. In order to escape censorship and loss of income, David is using a new video platform called Vid.Me. I'm not really familiar, I just signed up and haven't explored very much yet. This video is David's latest and explains better than I can.

Sort:

Now we have to get him to join Steemit. I've tried.

I don't know him that well, we follow each other on Gab, but I'll see what I can do.

Great, I was on gab.io because of David, but as soon as I learned of Steemit I've been hooked and trying to learn all I can.I have been a crypto fan for several years so I had no choice . It's much more fun than staring at the price of bitcoin, on coinbase or cointelegraph all day.

I added a brief note on youtube... sooner or later, I think we'll see him here.

We must KEEP trying, not only to introduce Seaman to the fresh air of Steem, but to keep #PizzaGate before the public. I do this by asking John Podesta regular questions about the things he wrote in his emails...like "what is a 'pizza-related hankerchief map?'" Perhaps when thousands of us ask Podesta questions on a daily basis the so-called "media" will notice.

Good video, but you should have posted this one. YouTube is a piece of shit for what they are doing censorship wise. We need to boycott them as much as we can, and not use their service whenever and wherever we can.

That's what I'm aiming for...that's why I posted Davids vid

I know, I just posted the same video from vid.me. I tried to embed the video, but steemit didn't like it. Thank you so much for posting this, I hadn't heard of vid.me before this video. Do you know how to get steemit to show an embedded vid.me video?

I highlight the url and copy & paste to the body of my article. I haven't tried any from vid.me yet, but it's worked from all the others I've tried.

Definitely agree on the boycott. Thanks for the vid.me link.

Thank you for posting this @richq11 - Yes, I follow David like his channel is my religion. I took yesterday offline entirely. Thank you so much for this update : ) Resteeming...

Thanks, I'm just getting familiarized with the new platform...maybe it will replace youtube

Nope. It won't. You share videos to Steemit from elsewhere. I'm new to Steemit too for around 4 weeks. I find www.minds.com much better if you're looking for a Facebook equivalent.

I've been off here for about 3 weeks (password problems). I was talking about Vid.me which is where David is starting to post. I didn't care for Minds.com, I like Gab better and they're improving all the time.

Ok, right. Yup... I think people gravitate to one or other according to their needs. I'm a heavy Facebook user (historically) and Minds.com is a very comparible platform to Fb - that's why it's my preferred. Good feedback about Gab. I still think there's around 1.2 million people in the queue ahead of me to get onto Gab. They're going to have to boost their servers ;)

I still do Fb because I have a lot of old friends there who do regular stuff...pics of kids and family stuff

Correction: I'm now #358,923 in the waiting list for Gab. I just checked.

It will only take a couple of days, I think. I was like 175,000 and it took a day.

Yes steemit might just be for him, he's into crypto too. And, most important, once his article is there 30 days it is there for good

You can't make videos on the Steemit platform. He's already on Gab. How many platforms does one have to belong to. Steemit is useless for David. People on here aren't into serious news. Please see the articles on my Steemit blog for verification that there is no interest in hard news on Steemit.

Well I don't know why people post their 'hard news' on weak sites where it can be removed. You can't upload videos to the blockchain but writing.

Hard news = happening in the immediate now.
Soft news = happened a while ago.

David makes videos. People on Steemit don't read real news. They're too busy trying to accumulate points for Blockchain, so they post lots of pretty photos and non-news opinion pieces - drives me nuts personally. Steemit then wonders why researchers (such as myself) come here, and can't be bothered staying.

If there was another YouTube platform that functioned like Steemit, in that it pays content providers, then it would become a serious contender for YouTube extremely fast. Steemit style platforms are the future.

I think Vid.me does...I'm old and it takes me a while to figure these things out...unlike the younger generation, I wasn't born with the "electronic gene" lol!

Yeah I have just been having at look at it myself. As you say it does look like there is a form of content payment system but I have not yet figured out how it does it. But from my first initial impression it looks similar to Steemit, at least the upvoting part. Also the quality and organization of the platform looks pretty amazing. One of the things that makes it better than YouTube is that they have made it easier to find specific channels and content providers. Wow things are changing. I couldn´t resist opening an account there and then so I could my full own name first ha ha. With regards to the electronic gene or perhaps the "digital gene" is more accurate, I reckon we all have it. It is only that but has been asleep for a long time in the older generation and thus takes longer to wake it up. Like a bear waking from a long winter.
