More YouTube BS --Censorship?-- What'd I Do?
So I uploaded a little 3 minute video this afternoon.

It was of my shop and the music I was playing at the time. The shop TV was playing David Gilmour on YouTube. The video has all of 3 views on it. No big deal right?

Soooooo............ In reality I got de-monetized by YouTube for showing video of something I was watching on YouTube........
It was 3 minutes of part of a song most of it in the background. And it had to be some kind of audio recognition software because it happened too fast.
Asinine.
I am a super amature content creator. Pretty much what you see is what you get. No big production frills or bells and whistles.
But Holy Shit! I don't think all three of my viewers cared about 3 mins of a song I was NOT trying to rip off! What if I was filming outside and a car drove by with the radio on? Or I'm at a concert? Or a sports venue and happened to record video that contained somebody's audio and upload it without some huge corporations permission first?
Not only that but someone else has effectively monetized my video now!

YouTube you are NOT treating the creators of your "product" very well. Looks like its time for a better platform to emerge that won't treat people like shit or have a political agenda......

Don't worry, you'll probably make more money over time here. I made a $100 in 7 years from youtube, grant im only uploading skate videos for the most part.

Why are you frustrated? Nothing bad happened to you. YouTube actually went ahead and took care of a legal issue ahead of time, at no cost to you, and with no ill effects to your account.
I understand that YouTube has problems... but IDK, this isn't one of them in my opinion.

Wow, I heard complaints of this happening but just thought people were exaggerating or being overly cautious or something... guess not though. I know you can dispute the copyrigt claims without much penalty if you like, but must provide a reason for doing so and 'it was playing in the background' isn't necessarily grounds for that but u may be able to try... let us know if you do try 😋
I made a video once using a song which the copyright owner had completely blocked and tried to dispute the claim on the grounds that 'it added extra meaning to the original work' and would therefore fall under fair use but they didn't seem to see it that way 😤 I always use the youtube copyright checker before choosing a track now but for situations like yours its a bit ridiculous that they take it that far
If I had 100,000 followers and a Million views I might be inclined to fight it. But all 27 of my subs I don't think really care that much.
I made the post more to highlight how crappy and petty YouTube has gotten. I'm just a small fish (minnow) right now but one day I might grow up.

Yes, youtube is anal to the max. And just seems to be getting worse now that the advertisers are starting to call the shots. sigh But hey, at least there's Steemit. Now to just get off the procrastina-train and make that happen! 🙃
