You can't beat homegrown veg - broad beans
@yasminep has raised a really important point in her most recent contest and post about praising imperfect fruit and veg. So much food in the supermarket nowadays appears perfect or at least their perceived idea of perfect, projected onto consumers. Tomatoes don't need to be smooth or perfectly round and bright red, they can be yellow, orange, weird shapes and be just as tasty (usually even more). So much focus is put into creating aesthetically appealing produce, that pesticides and fertilisers have become a normal part of our agriculture process. We've even become used to rejecting the uglier looking items or throwing them away.
Homegrown, organic veg is the king of produce in my opinion but I appreciate not everyone has the space or time to be able to do this. And LORD knows those waiting lists for an allotment are ridiculous. However, even if you only grow herbs in a pot outside, you'll notice the difference in taste to those in the supermarket. It's so therapeutic to tend to your veg and when they're ready, pick and enjoy them in your meal.
These homegrown broad beans are my entry to the #yasminepcontest hosted by @yasminep, celebrating the unfiltered versions of food! You don't get more imperfect and real than these bad boys.
Broad beans from my garden
There's a few more goodies growing in the vegetable patch in my garden too, so keep a look out for my recipes!

LOVE these! So real and natural. Thanks Joey!
Next time you're round, we'll go round the veggie patch and pick some nice bits for dinner.
