Brad Garlinghaus: Ripple controls the price of XRP no more than whales - Bitcoin

Brad Garlinghaus, CEO of Ripple, a U.S. financial services company, talked to CNN on Thursday, trying to refute the view that the XRP cryptocurrency exchange rate is subject to manipulation.

Garlinghaus started the discussion by telling how Ripple was trying to find the right application for the cryptocurrencies. The interviewee then asked about the alleged active sales of XRP by the company and the initiative of individual community members threatening to "seize power" by carrying out a hard XRP fork if Ripple did not stop its dubious practices.

Earlier, Garlinghaus stated that mass sales of cryptocurrency help Ripple to develop the XRP ecosystem.

When asked if Ripple could control the price of XRP, he exclaimed: "Oh, no! Ripple cannot control the price of XRP more than whales control the price of Bitcoin.

The criticism of Bitcoin did not end there - the first cryptocurrency turned out to be a successful example to justify the opinion that the long-term value of any digital asset comes from its practical properties, and XRP in this case, according to Garlinghaus, is about a thousand times faster and more economical.

"Bitcoin, and I bet on Bitcoin for a long time, has real practical value as a means of accumulation, digital gold. But if a Bitcoin transaction takes 12 minutes on average and costs more than $1, it is unlikely that such a payment solution will be successful. Therefore, if we talk about payments, we think that XRP is in a unique and extremely favorable position to solve the payment problem," he added.
