:: REMINDER ::

This is not a contest. It is merely my own subjective opinion; a collection of images that speak to me the loudest. The only requirement I have is that they must be original photographs that you created. Please also post the gear & settings that were used.

Also, there is no set schedule for when these will be posted, because it all depends on how long it takes me to find 5 of what I consider to be the best of the best photos on Steemit at any given moment. Considering that photos get posted to all the different photography-related tags literally about 5 to 10 per second, it can take a while to wade through everything to find the gems, and then to confirm their authenticity.

Today's Top 5 Photos of Steemit

1. "Ghost" by @willchristiansen

I actually discovered this one just after I posted 004 the other day, so here it is in 005. I don't have access to places like this, so I can appreciate a good, long exposure photo of a natural bodies of water, particularly waterfalls such as this one. I especially like the tone of twilight this image possesses, and how the bottom of the fall is framed comfortably between two large rock formations. Very well executed photo.

2. "Balloon" by @veganroma

Now this is just cool. Such a dynamic angle, too. I love the exposure of the environment, giving a nice warm rim-lighting effect on the guy in the foreground, although I kind of wish I could see more detail in the flame, but it's not a dealbreaker for me. And besides, it gives the balloon itself a nice, warm, internal glow.

3. Minnesota Frost (Macro & Landscape) by @fotosdenada

@fotosenada's images here make me want to buy a macro lens, because this is beautiful. Extreme close-up of frost building up on different things outdoors. As a bonus, a couple of images showing the wintry landscape. I particularly like the ice crystal structure in the macro shots. Good work here.

4. ColorChallenge - Yellow Wednesday. Long night by @liseykina

The EXIF data on the photos in this post say they were taken with a Fujifilm X-T2, and I have drooled over that camera since it was released. This image is strikingly gorgeous. It is a composite (or "stack" as the astro community calls it) of about 50 photos. Each image represents about 30 seconds. So, in total, this image represents about 25 minutes. I have an enormous amount of respect for someone who can nail astro-landscape photography like this, and I can't wait to see more from this photographer.

5. "Just let go..." by @jdbuzz

She looks like she's levitating, almost as if in a pool of water. The lighting is perfect, and the choice to convert to black & white was a stroke of genius. I don't believe this image would've worked as well in color. To me, the point here is the light value, the subtle shades from black to white, accentuating the human form. For photographs like this, in my opinion, color becomes a distraction. Fantastic. Incredibly surprised this one hasn't gotten more attention.

Thanks for tuning into 005!

Nice to see you using your expertise to clean up photography in Steem-land. Though it is not something that i find much interest in, i appreciate your efforts.

Thanks for the support. I feel there should be multiple people in positions like this, but spread out to different areas of expertise. We need more people asserting themselves as experts in their field and becoming respectable authorities on those topics. Think of it as positive moderation. :)

Thanks for the feature. Nice to get some great feedback as well. Really like the other posts that have been selected too.

Thank you! And keep posting great work! It's not impossible to be featured again and again if your images catch my eye!

Thanks for taking the time to do this, Winston. I will definitely be bookmarking and visiting the posts you've chosen. It's always good to discover quality work and creatives I've not 'met' yet. Following and upvoted! Jay <3
