The Wait - Poetry
Hours as the lights flickered,
Not long by the passage of time,
But by the beating of the act of life,
Waiting with a leap in monotonous beat.
Under the glimmer of the light,
Protective like a super hero,
A sensation so pure and cleansing,
As you watched the waving of hands.
Crossing over and within your grasp,
Clasped tightly,
Intertwined fingers,
A chatter so loud to wake up all,
In the dead of the night walked a dream.
Whispers loud as the future,
Pulling back and close,
The laughter of the other world,
A walk to the den of delight.
Shuddering wood,
The darkness engulfed,
The strawberry fields came alive,
Taking a deep breath to fill with life,
A walk in the fields tasting the fruit,
Breathing becoming scarce,
As the cold took over,
Under the dim blue moonlight,
A tight grasp of the power,
Turning delight into a palace of heaven,
Tickle of tingling dreams welcomed,
To the sweetest darkness.
