Chronicles The Death of Kohler (1)

Warship Citadel van Antwerpen has fired cannons into the Aceh coast line defensive. The first battle is in progress. Similar replies had appeared from the hole bastion of Cermin's Beach as if ready to accept the war offer of The Royal Dutch. However, the shots were released by the enemy had escaped and only creates small waves on the high seas. Perhaps they are not adept at firing cannon balls, I thought. Not long ago, another cannon fire was released from Warship Siak and Warship Bronbeek so that it appears black smoke in the sky.

Cannons were fired, dozens of lifeboats and two steamers carrying the middle officers and soldiers who rushed toward the shoreline. I was in one of the steamer, hugging the rifle. In the next lifeboat, stands an officer of the rank of major general who had ordered his soldiers to immediately docked.

"Vlaar! Soon docked!" he ordered.

"Well, Mr. Kohler."

The lifeboat was soon headed to the beach. Followed by other lifeboats. The beach is just a few hundred meters, and suddenly the bullet came from behind the castle. I gasped and almost jumped over the wall of the boat, if not immediately resuscitated by a corporal.

"Split up!" Kohler commanded to another lifeboat. "Take a shot! Attack!"

Lifeboat carrying heavy weapons firing into the fort. The soldiers aim their rifles others to find a figure creeping and hiding in between the walls of the fort. I only aim, not fired because I did not see anyone there.

Seeing the sudden attack from behind the castle, Warship Siak and Warship Broonbeek bombarded the coast. Help also came from Warship Djambi. The explosions were heard. Some body thrown.

"Nice! Death to you!" Shouted Kohler. "Quick! Attack! Vrij, bring some troops to the east."

"Yes, Sir!" Then some soldiers followed Vrij. When the troops brought by Vrij trying to break through the beach, they were confronted by dozens of enemies using sabers.

"God damn it! Come on, soldier! Kill them all!" Said Vrij encouraging soldiers were already overwhelmed.

"They were too close, sir." Asked a soldier who looked shaky. It was a corporal who was beside me earlier. I forgot to ask his name.

"Attack them to use your weapons!"
