My Storm
dark clouds roll in and obstruct the setting sun
the wind whistles a shrill tune against the loose panes of my home
water seeps through the roof and drops into a bucket—plop, ta-thump, plop, ta-thump
Or is that my heart?
lightning illuminates everything, then my blindness returns
thunder roars, and my foundation shakes
Bang! The door slams open
no escape from the torrent—
FLASH, CRACK
—it rages on
a flash of ire
a clap of hostility
a gust of malice
a flood of regret
Will this storm ever stop?
Look, a rainbow!
