Stars and Spears

The Gods created the Earth, and lived there after. It was warm and bright.

The Gods created Man to share this joy, and were pleased with their creation.

The Gods created Woman. Man and Gods took pleasure from the warmth and Beauty of Woman.

But Woman cleaved to Man, and became the Wife of Man. The Gods grew jealous, for they had created Woman and coveted Her.

The Gods waylaid Woman, and tried to steal her from Man.

Man became angry at the God's interference with the Wives. Men had become many, while the Gods were few, and weak on Earth.

Man took his fists to the Gods, and drove them from the Earth.

The Gods in their jealousy and spite threw the blanket of Night over the Earth.

It was now cold, dark, and full of fear where once there was light, warmth, and comfort.

Men created spears, and threw them at Night to bring that warmth and light back to them.

Man's spears created small holes in Night; these holes brought small sparks of lights, but no warmth. These were the Stars.

The First Hero took his spear and chariot to the highest mountain.

He took his whip to the horses and drove into the sky, tearing a great hole into Night. This hole brought much light but still no warmth to Man, and was called the Moon.

The First Hero called for Man to wage war against the Gods for reclaiming the warmth. Many Men followed the First Hero through the Moon.

The Men cut away at Night, but they faced the Gods in their Power.

The First Hero took much Power from the Gods in this war. He became fire in his Person. His light and warmth shone through the great rents in the Sky, and he was now the Sun.

The Gods could not vanquish the Sun, but they leashed what was left of the blanket of Night to him.

Man and Gods were both tired, and quit from this war.

Now Sun travels around the Earth to bring light and warmth to Man, while the vengeance of the Gods follows him every day and place in the many pierced blanket of Night.

Night follows Day, but to remind the Gods of Man's resistance to submission, the blanket of Night shines with the Stars created by the spears of Man.
