That aged upright
Once of ivory white
Dyed a crimson red
With black keys that invite

Unaware of what lies
From deeper within
Players sit down
And their pieces begin

For if only they knew
That one painful truth
Their notes would surely linger

For if they only knew
That for every sharp note
It takes another finger
