My Writing On Poetry And Prose

in #writing7 years ago

"When you write in prose, you cook rice. When you write a poem, you turn rice into rice wine, cooked rice unchanged, but the rice wine changes in both shape and quality. Rice makes people satisfied so people can live their life. wine, on the other hand, make someone drunk, make people sad happy, and happy people sad. The effect is remarkable."

Comparison:

  • Poetry

Poetry (from poeta Latin, a poet) is a literary art form in which language is used for its aesthetic and evocative qualities in addition, or in place of, the true meaning.

  • Prose

Prose is the most distinctive form of language. The words of prose are derived from the Latin prōsa, which is literally translated as 'straight forward'.

Definition of Prose vs Poetry

Poem Nouns

  1. the art of rhythmic composition, written or oral, for pleasurable pleasure with beautiful, imaginative, or high-minded thoughts.

  2. literary works in the form of metrics; paragraph.

Poetry is a language spoken or written in accordance with some repetition patterns that emphasize the relationship between words by sound and meaning. This pattern is almost always a rhythm or meter (regular pattern of sound units). This pattern can be added with decorations such as rhymes or alliterations or both.

Prose Of Noun

  1. The ordinary form of spoken or written language, with no matrix structure, distinguished from poetry or poetry.
  2. About facts, ordinary places, or dull expressions, quality, discourse, and so on.

Prose is a form of written language that is not organized according to formal verse patterns. There may be some kind of rhythm and some repetition and balance tools, but this is not governed by regular formal arrangements on a regular basis. The important unit is the sentence, not the line. It is therefore represented without a pause.

Prose Poem

Prose poetry is a poem written in prose rather than using a verse but also maintaining poetic qualities such as images and high emotional effects. This can be considered primarily poetry or prose, or a completely separate genre. While prose poetry in the West originated in the 19th century, it gained popularity over the 1980s.

Quoting Poetry vs Quoting Prose

It is normal to quote prose text by indenting quotes if it consists of more than four lines on the page (this refers from left to right instead of to poetic lines). If the quotation is shorter, it can be integrated into the main text.

In writing about poetry, it is important to show a pause when quoting a poem. The standard way is to identify text. However, for short excerpts under five lines, it is conventional to integrate citations into your writing and show line breaks with slashes. For example, in the clause above "special meal in Crewe / Finding very large insects on the decoction." It is important to point out the line break in the correct format for the length of the quotation.

That is my writing about the differences of poetry and prose, may be useful for writers of poetry and other prose. thank you for reading.
