"A song of ice" [ver 2] [poem]

in #writing2 years ago

Well this is a kind of song that I'm trying to write for a chapter that I have not written yet (but which I have in mind) for my fantasy novel. The context of this would be the following: the protagonist in a moment enters a band and must write a song that they can commercialize. I still do not have everything clear why it is possible that the final product presents many changes. Although for that we still have a long way to go before we can see such results.

I have never written a song in English before, so this has taken several attempts. And yes, I'm doing everything on my own with my little knowledge of the musical subject. Well, that of a lyricist.

The title of the song is also provisional. Nothing is completely defined so far.

I do not think that the present work reaches anyone's eyes or anything like that. However, if the case were different, if someone wanted to put a melody to it, I would love it.

[A song of ice]

I was in front of the gates of hell
and who could have said
that those were like mirrors.
A girl was waiting through of those lands.
A frozen world behind the portal of pain
inside a temple made with impious hands,
silent and cold as the bane.

The horizon overflood
Spilled wine from a fountain
Its color was like blood
and was warm like it.
And yet, truly sweet
at the touch with my broken lips.

What would become of that girl?
Where would she be?
Would God let an angel in here,
in opposition to this land burned by the ice?
But then, she reappeared before me.
Pale as if all life had left her body
but her skin was so smooth
her eyes were lit like flames of azure.

Then I recall who she was.
She recovered the silhouette of a murderer.
Her hair then fell from the coat,
It was dark like an ominous forest.
She pushed me back like a boat before the storm.
I stumbled and fell into the abyss
and an ice dagger stuck in my heart,
I was sealed by her name:
Alayna.

[First version]

I was in front the gates of hell
And who could have said
that these were like mirrors.
On the other side, a girl with pale skin was waiting.
A frozen world behind the portal of pain
inside a temple made with impious hands,
silent and cold as the death.

At an unexpected point in the horizon
Spilled wine from a fountain
Its color was like blood
and was warm like it.
And yet, truly sweet
at the touch with my broken lips.

I wondered what would become of that girl.
Where would she be?
Shall God let an angel in here,
in opposition to this land burned by the ice?
But then, she reappeared before me.
Pale as if all life had left her body
But her skin was so smooth
and the eyes were lit like flames of azure.

Suddenly I recall who she was.
She recovered the silhouette of a murderer.
The hair then fell from the coat,
They were dark like an ominous forest.
She pushed me back like a boat before the storm.
I stumbled and fell into the abyss
and an ice dagger stuck in my heart,
and I was sealed with by her name:
Alayna.

Súbitamente, recordé quién era ella;
