Jimmy's favorite game was hide and seek. He was only five years old, and he could still fit into all sorts of little nooks and crannies in the house. His brother, age seven, and his sister, age three, were his usual playmates for this game. Sometimes Mother or Father joined in if they weren't too tired or too busy. This evening they were both going to play with all three children, so it was going to be an exciting game! Father was the first one to hide his eyes and count to twenty. Mother didn't fit in very many of the good hiding places, but Father never looked for her very hard, either. He usually made a big deal out of looking for the children first. Little Sister was too young to hide very well, so Father heard her giggling behind the recliner right away. Big Brother had a lot of practice hiding, but even he was getting too big for some of the best spots. Father found him in the bathtub behind the shower curtain. Jimmy had the best hiding place ever, in the laundry room inside the hamper . He was sure nobody would ever look for him there. Then Father paused outside the laundry room door and said, "Jimmy? You just be in here. I can smell your garlic breath from the pasta we had for supper!"

Sort:

Garlic can give off quite a smell. Lovely story, @scribblinggramma.

Thanks for taking the time to read it!
