Woke Up Hungry

It all started with a gasp!
And her eyes opened in the dark.
Her hands started exploring the surface above her, she could feel the old and disintegrating wood at a breath's distance. It took her a few moments before she could sense its smell too.
As her fingers went all the way around the wooden board that was laying above her, she found the lock that kept her chains together. She touched it, it felt rough, it must have been the bits of rust that formed on it after so many centuries.
She pulled it and then instinctively pulled her fingers to her nose. Sniffed once, twice. Rust! The closest to blood a smell can ever be. It was the iron. She was more than tempted to lick those fingers, but then restrained herself. "No substitutes, Lilith. Soon you will feel the real deal", she thought.
Her hand waved in that confined and dark space and the board that was keeping her in the darkness moved away... and so did the tons of dirt and soil that kept her hidden for ages.
"Meeeow" a long, steady meow sounded among the graves. A long black tail was waving side to side and four delicate paws made their way towards Lilith. The creature's green eyes were shining under the full moon and two long, white fangs were showing, the only thing after those eyes that you could make out over that ebony fur of its.
Ebony black was Lilith's hair too as the moonlight reflected upon it. Like a black piano ready to play a symphony of death or the symphony of another version of existence, if you like this term best. The cat heard the sound of the soil bursting into the air and knew it was time to meet her owner again. She ran quickly and found Lilith standing in all her glory at the rim of her grave. Her long, virescent, velvet dress made her skin look even paler under that moonlight. The cat rubbed her head on Lilith's leg and soon her tail followed the outline of her right shank, pushing that dress against it.
"Mmm, I 've missed you too, Ebony. Now let's go. It's feeding time" Lilith said as they both started making their way to the village.
A crow signaled their advent, but it was too late. Everyone was sleeping and soon it was going to be... for ever.

No, but I've heard of the title and I think I have watched an animated version years years back :)
Lilith's style was a Scarlet O'Hara couture inspiration (do you remember the dress made out of her velvet curtains?) ;)
How could anyone forget the velvet curtain dress?! :)
(Not familiar with the animated version of Little Women, but the 1994 movie is worth watching.)

Wow.... Nice idea. The story is lovely and the soundtrack made it feel real. It felt more like a movie than a writing because of the audio.

Horror writing is starting to catch on as a niche on Steemit, @Dirge has been writing a really good series. interesting that evil little girls are often one of the most frightening creatures in horror
It is a challenge. Horror is kind of a cliche once you consider all these (and often ridiculous) movies out there that have taught us not to be impressed easily (that is why it is hard to find a good horror movie these days). I talk mostly about movies, because horror literature hadn't been on my reading list.

He is doing it primarily as an audio series. That makes it even more of a commitment to sit down and listen, but it is very high-quality high effort material. He is being supported by Curie now, so I'm really glad to see that.
Good horror movies are definitely very rare. The Japanese are great at horror movies, the original of The Ring kept me awake at night, I had to beg my roommate not to crawl into my room at night with her hair over her face!

This so much like the intro to a vampire movie @ruth-girl.. Even the sound track too is perfect.. So many stuffs are going through multiple head already, I hope one of the villagers lives to tale the tale.
