The Wizards betrayal – A Concept Fantasy Story - Part Twenty Six

Nathan woke up early and immediately got to work, he channeled his inner energy, holding his nature shard in hand he could feel the water beneath the ground and the moisture in the air respond to his call.

He extended and connected more of his mind strings, and as per his request a shiny ball of water appeared suspended over the smouldering fire. The ball grew in size and when it was large enough he released the water with his mind and it dropped like water cast straight from a bucket. The make shift fire pit sizzled as the coals lost their glow, extinguished easily by the water now seeping into the earth.

He took a moment to stare at his shard, it was glowing a bright light green...it looked like it was getting greener and brighter with each passing day, his power must be growing.

Carrying nothing but the rags on his back he made his way down into the valley.

A few of the locals carrying pitch forks and wearing straw hats worked the fields. The hats looked funny to him, like flat plates, over sized and balanced on their heads. He could see they worked with purpose, plowing the fields to prepare for new crops, he respected that and remember his own village.

He shook the memories loose, that life was gone.

When the coast was clear he made a break for a house  at the edge of town nearest to the church, it was still early so hopefully most villages were still asleep.

He peered around the corner of the house, it looked like the street was empty, he could clearly see the church grounds... it had a high fence and gate. If he could make it inside the gate his chances of being seen would be greatly reduced.

"Go now master, there is no one around hehe" Sharee laughed in his mind as if they were playing some kind of game.

He made his break, ran across the street and pushed hard to open the gate...once inside gate secured behind him he turned to face the church up close.

From this distance he could see it was really old, tomb stones lay around in disrepair and an old clock which seemed to have stopped sat out of place on the front of the church wall.

He proceeded carefully up to the church main doors, it was much like the one in his home village.

He pushed gently, the door creaked.... it seemed the door was not locked.

"Master, something is wrong..."

"What is it Sharee?"

"I sense a fire magic shard nearby...it's not very powerful, but we should be careful".

Nathan paused for a moment, ignoring the warning he pushed open the church door and rushed inside...
