Cont. from Part Fourteen or Story Start/Part One if your just joining

Valar could hear the voices but could barely open his eyes, it burned to open his lids and he never felt so exhausted.. the world was spinning.

His vision cleared a bit and he focused on controlling his breathing, he tried to keep as silent as possible as the voices approached and torch light approached.

A group of armed men came into view, one was holding a flaming torch burning brightly. He didn’t recognise their outfits, but they looked more like common bandits then troops from a regular army.

Scattered on the shore was ship debris and even a few bodies of drowned soldiers. One of the bandits approached the body of a soldier, he must have dumped his Armour and swam for it... he was still twitching, perhaps clinging to life.

Valar felt angry at his own weakness and tried to move to help, but the darkness tried to take hold with the slightest movement… he realised his head hurt and he must have taken a blow as well.

The bandit casually put his black leather boot to the back of the soldiers head, pushing his face deep  into the sand.  He drew his sword and in a swift move pierced him through his back, probably piercing his heart. The twitching stopped, his suffering ended.

To the right of the wreckage and the bandits, a figure emerged from the waters edge and stood revealled in the moonlight. It was Jakkar the squad sergeant, he was still wearing his battle Armour breast plate as well and for a moment Valar was happy to see him.

He wondered how Jakkar survived the wreck, and how was he was even still standing... he definitely was the strongest of the troop.

The bandits looked at each other and then moved towards Jakkar, their swords drawn.

“Here’s a bit of fun boys” said the bandit closest to Jakkar.

Jakkar seeing their approach, presumably exhausted and having no weapon,  started to form a fire ball in his mind, the orange glow of the fire shard responding around his neck, his hands forming a glowing sparkling ball.

One of the bandits responded in turn and with lightening speed closed the gap, the tip of his sword piercing through Jakkar’s throat.

Valar closed his eyes for a moment, his happiness faded, he could vaguely hear the gargling of blood as Jakkar tried to cry out, his fireball dissipating into nothing.

“Mahahaha” the bandits laughed as the lead bandit withdrew his sword, putting his boot on Jakkar’s chest kicking him backwards onto the sand.

The moment he was down they surround him and started taking his items; one bandit grabbed the fire shard and danced around in glee, the orange light fading as the bonding left with Jakkar’s life.  Another worked on removing his chest plate, finding it hard to remove he simply cut the straps, then also happy and holding it towards the torch to inspect its splendor.

“See if there is more Armour like this around..this should fetch us a pretty penny boys”

Valar was outraged, he tried one final time to move, but he was done for, this time the darkness came in quickly and the sound of the voices and the ocean disappearing as he slipped out of consciousness.
