RE: Movie Review: Netflix's Death Note.

in #writing7 years ago

I couldn't really bear with watching it, (forcing myself to finnish it) just so i can shit on it as for all the live action adapation's ive see, yeah sure it was very unique and suprising but it really missed out on the psychological effect that death note gave out as well as it's overall main focus which is to convey the intensity of the fight between Light and The Police + L and Near despite there being barely any action scenes to accompany it. Good review i thought u made some amazing points about it and yes, the source material which they were given was getting dismembred into one shitty netflix adapation we're all used to.

Last point however i believe there is no way to recreate Death Note in 1 live action movie as it's just way too short on time it would have to be like a harry potter type thing, where the would be several parts maybe focusing on 1 arc at a time and making it very detailed, but what do you know about it, its fucking netflix however if i was to reccomend this to someone it would be people who have never watched the anime/manga of death note and are looking to try out anime, it would be a very satysfying for them to read it in movie context.

Oh, yeah. I totally agree there would need to be multiple movies to actually flush out the story and character development in a good way. Trying to put everything into one film that's 95 minutes long is ridiculous and impossible.

I would rather see a live action TV series of Death Note than another single movie, really. Japan has had a chance at making a trilogy which seemed just "okay" from what I've seen, and Netflix obviously totally fucked it all up.
