He shows up ready for his shift,
Clothes clean and pressed,
Never been arrested,

Stays humble,
He doesn't mumble,
Steady savin' his skrill,

Passed High School,
Knuckled down and got busy,
Studied and planned,

Here he is again,
Punching the clock,
Always ready to work hard,

Disregarding losers, hoods, and haters,
Patiently waiting for things to pan out,
Carefully navigating the roadmap,

Pacing the floor,
Making the dishes clean,
Bussing tables for servers,

He has a dream,
Behold his goals are mightier than sin,
Acceptance letter arrived yesterday,

Forty hour work week solid,
More homework and long days,
Never allowing his wish to decay,

A future of doing what he loves,
A ticket to success in full swing,
He didn't beg for a damned thing,

Earned every inch of every mile,
When it was hardest he still smiled,
Believing in the course,

His shift ends but thats the best part,
He wouldn't be anywhere today,
Without a purposeful start.
