BEYOND THE OBVIOUS......THE POWER OF QUESTION

Recently I have been opportuned to meet some human questionnaire..At first it was annoying, but then I took my time to observe them and made it a point to read up on this habit and this was what I learned.

Questions have the power to capture and engage our mindset. It lights up the truthful path and helps us see our directions clearly. Humans are born with curiosity and the ability to ask questions. Some questions we ask leads to creativity and innovation and this in turn empower our mental abilities. We detect problems or solve them when questions are raised. The power to steer and redirect conversations inspires us to sometimes bare our thoughts. By asking question we are improving on our intelligence and gaining a whole lots of information.

I then went back to observe more on their habit to affirm what I read. I noticed a trend that sometimes these questions can be annoying and turn me off on the present conversation while sometimes it is a thoughtful one that requires me doing a deep musing before replying and the after effect in this situation is gaining clarity on things that had eluded me. The ones who are driven to ask a good question shows how thoughtful they are.

I found out we have 2 common types of questions and they are:

• OPEN-ENDED QUESTION: This is a question that cannot be answered with either yes or no. It requires a reasonable answer and a detailed information. It is also used as an avenue to engage people in a conversation.
  

• CLOSE-ENDED QUESTION: This is a kind of question that is answered with a Yes or No. It does not leave room for a continuous response. Rather it is used in discouraging prolonged conversation.

Here are some of the things we gain when we ask questions:

1. INTERACTION: Asking questions provides more insights into the conversation you are holding. It also foster deep interpersonal communication and helps display your interest in the other person or discussion. It helps you connect with people and gives you opportunity to exchange knowledge and meaningful discussion.

2. INFORMATION AND CREATIVITY: In this instance, questions asked helps people to gain more knowledge and gather information which in turn increases our problem solving skills . Asking it also helps one think deeply about the cause and effect of the topic in discussion. It expand ways of thinking and lifts the limited ban on our brain.

3. LISTENING: When we ask good questions, we get good answer that has valuable information. We sometimes skip this act while trying to compose the next question in our head. Always listen to the answer to the questions asked or great opportunities might be missed.

IN CONCLUSION:
Some people have answers but not the question. Question is another way of life, it stimulates thinking. Be comfortable with questions and always see them as necessities not barriers. Some see conversation as a scary thing and they have a problem in making one but your questions will encourage and make it easy for them to get involved. Asking them questions may generate many responses.Questions affirms or attest people's opinion.
