Peanut Butter - Part 2steemCreated with Sketch.

It seems I’ve finally been corrupted. I generally don’t like to do serials, mostly to avoid the word – we try not to associate with such thigs, it makes people think of uncomfortable things like murder. Nonetheless, enjoy Part 2, here’s Part 1 for those who missed it. Should I continue?

The room emptied out like lightning, so fast it seemed no one had been there but a moment before. And yet… when it had been full, the presences had been tangible, almost pushing out of the shadowed room, terrifying to behold.

Jeremy shook his head as he entered his custom-made helicopter. It was a risky way to travel – if it were detected, it could be shot down in an instant, and there was near nothing he could do about it. But to him it was worth it. This vehicle traveled smoothly and undetected. With this he could reach nearly any place in the world – and he need not depend on any others.

Unlike the others from that room. He had spies among the servants of 7 of them, though he knew that 2 of them knew of the spies, and suspected the suspicions if one other. Still… none of them knew they were his, none of them had any reason to suspect. He'd intentionally had them plant clues that they were from another member of the court… nothing too obvious though. That would be suspicious.

Besides, he had spies in the courts of 4 of the most powerful men alive, completely unbeknownst to them. And that was a daring and impressive feat if anything was. It was likely more of an accomplishment than getting onto the council, though neither was a feat he could brag about.

He shook his head and cut off his dreamings. There would be enough time to feel good about what he had accomplished later, though why he even bothered thinking about such things he wasn't sure. For now, however, there was plotting to do, and plenty of it. The council had given him quite a bit to do for them – he was not yet sure whether that was due to pushing up the pace since his joining to try to impress him, or simply because that was the way things were always run.

He was being narcissistic, he was being paranoid – he knew all this. But one does not become one of the most powerful villains alive without a little narcissism, nor remain there – alive that is - for long, without a lot of paranoia.

He would have to check his home, his vehicles, and every place he entered more carefully now that he had joined the council.

But for now, he had to order the peanut butter. He wasn't entirely certain what he was doing with said peanut butter, but the other members of the council had seemed convinced that he was playing a pivotal role. Still… 14 tons of peanut butter. That was a lot, even for total world domination.

He would have to figure out the other details of this plan later. He was unused to not being on top of every aspect of a plan, thought he supposed all the others were as well. He knew only one person knew all of the details of their plans – the supreme leader of the council, though it seemed no one knew who he was but he himself.

Jeremy knew it wasn't one of the ones whose men he'd infiltrated – nobody foolish enough to miss that could be the dangerous, deadly man the leader would need to be. Though perhaps it was one of the ones who knew of his spies, it was a risky ploy – but a potentially rewarding one – to allow another to plant spies amongst one's men.

In any case, he'd hardly figure out the identity of the leader by watching them, and he certainly couldn't figure out the whole plan. What he could do however, was collect most of the pieces and figure out the rest, though he didn't doubt there were a few unnecessary tasks intentionally planted to throw off any observer's trail. Hmm, perhaps his peanut butter was one of those. He'd likely not know until he figured out the whole plan or until the plan was complete, and either succeeded or failed.

A similar tactic would help him ascertain the identity of the council's leader. Though he doubted any of the others knew, he could see who was pulling the strings, who else was watching from overhead. And when he did… he'd have to think about what to do about it, would it be more useful to attempt to overthrow the leader and take his place, feed him whatever cues and information to keep him unknowingly on Jeremy's strings, use the knowledge of his identity to gain influence among the council, or simply allow that to keep his actions more informed? In any case, knowledge of the supreme leader's identity would be rather beneficial for Jeremy.

Hmm. Not gonna extend, seeing as I didn't sign up in the first place - these services tend to be rather useless, though it was amusing to win one from a random contest.

See you around, little bot. Or not.

Hey, that rhymed! I'm a poet and I didn't even realize.

Wait a second...

LOL. Ok, no worries. Thanks for trying out my services.   =]

Thanks for the tag @hyperbole

You have piqued my curiosity. This Council seems to be some bad ass people with some possibly sinister plans. One has to ponder what the hell will they do with 14 tons of peanut butter. And if its just some task to throw someone off of a scent... 14 tons of peanut butter would do the trick. I'm still scratching my head. Can't wait for the next chapter!!

I look forward to reading more about Jeremy and the 14 tons of peanut butter.

I swear, this feels like it was written as a dare. Nonetheless, I was fortunate to have the chance to binge read this and the first part, and I have to say I was quite intrigued by it all. This has the makings of a good serial. But, I would have no qualms if you ended it right here as well. The mystery would haunt me for the rest of my waking days.
