나의 단상 - Chance is Opportunity in Blockchain - 찬스는 기회다, 블록체인

this is my humble writing... 그냥 개인적인 단상입니다.

Basically, "chance" and "opportunity" are identical in terms of meaning.
기본적으로 찬스와 기회는 그 의미상으로는 동일합니다.

However, some people can 'feel' the difference in their nuance.
그러나, 어떤 사람들을 그 뉘앙스에서 차이를 느낄 수 있죠.

For me...
저에게는

"Chance" is the word including the 'risk' as well as the success and seems the element of 'luck' involved.
찬스는 성공만이 아닌 위험을 포함한 단어인 것 같습니다. 어느 정도의 운이라는 요소도 포함되어 있구요.

On the other hand, "Opportunity" looks something positive we can achieve by taking actions.
반면, 기회는 무언가 긍정적인 것 같습니다, 우리가 노력함으로써 얻을 수 있는 무언가 말이죠.

There are many 'chances' in our lives, but only a few moment, only a few people accepted 'chances' as 'opportunities'.
우리 인생에 많은 찬스들이 존재하지만, 단지 몇 번의 순간, 소수의 사람들만이 그 찬스를 기회로 만드는 것 같습니다.

In my way to life, there were a couple of 'chances' which I did not catch as 'opportunity' in terms of "technology field".
제 인생의 경우를 보면, 테크놀로지 분야에서 기회를 만들지 못한 두어번의 찬스가 있었던 것 같습니다.

The first one was maybe In mid of 1980's, I don't know why, but all of a sudden, I got interest about computer when I was a freshman of high school.
첫번째는 아마 1980년 중반이었을 겁니다. 이유는 모르겠지만 갑자기 컴퓨터에 관심을 가지게 되었습니다. 고 1 때 였죠.

I have remembered to take a class of "DOS" - the newest technology at that time (lol) in the institute located far from home and school.
집에서도 학교에서도 멀었던 한 학원에서 DOS에 대해서 배웠던 기억이 납니다. 그 당시에는 최신 테크놀로지였죠 ㅎㅎㅎ

I am not sure you know the reality of high schoolers in South Korea... Any adults would not have understand another activity but studying at school to get the high score on Univ. entrance exam.
하지만 아시다시피 고등학생이 야자를 빠지고 그 당시 아무도 모르는 컴퓨터를 배우러 다니는 걸 이해하는 부모님이나 선생님은 없었습니다.

Only a couple of months later, I had to quit DOS, leaving Flow Chart and DOS in my memory ^^.
한 두 달을 다니다가 그만 두어야 했고, 플로우 차트와 도스는 그냥 추억으로 남았습니다. ㅎㅎ

The second one was in mid of 1990's, when Dot-Com bubbles just started. Probably, I just wanted to focus on my job and my major field, so did not take a chance to opportunity.
두번째는 1990년 중반, 닷컴 버블이 한창 시작할 무렵이었죠. 아마도 제 직장과 전공 분야에 집중하느라 찬스를 기회로 만들지 못했던 것 같습니다.

I know Dot-Com bubbles crashed, but we are still enjoying all benefits from internet since then.
물론 닷컴 버블은 꺼졌지만, 우리는 여전히 인터넷의 거대한 영향을 받으며 살고 있죠.

Now, I believe the third one came to us, 'Blockchain'.
이제, 세번째가 온 것 같습니다. 블록체인.

Even I am not able to catch up the stream of it these days with excuses like ages, no basic knowledge of computer science and economy etc. But I know it is a big chance passing by all of us now and we need to take this opportunity.
나이도 많고, 컴퓨터나 경제에 기본적인 지식도 없어서 이 현재의 흐름을 따라잡기 힘들지만, 큰 찬스가 우리 옆을 지나가고 있으며 그 기회를 잡아야 한다는 것은 이제 분명히 알고 있습니다.

It does not mean I want to be a millionaire by cryptocurrency investment or a professional in blockchain and I cannot either ^^.
암호화폐 투자로 떼돈을 번다거나 블록체인 분야에 전문가가 되겠다는 의미는 결코 아닙니다. 절대 그럴수도 없구요 ㅎㅎ

I just would like to enjoy the changes or wave, whatever we called.
저는 단지 소위 말하는 변화나 물결을 즐기고 싶습니다.

It is so exciting to watch what's happening in next 10 years, compared to last 10 years.
지난 10년과 비교해서 다가오는 10년동안 어떤 일들이 일어날지 지켜보는 것은 정말 흥분되는 일일 것 같습니다.
