The world inventions: The discovery of the cheese slicer!
Norway can compete, and we also cannot compete. Business life is about competition, and public organizations are about meeting needs that should be solved. Norway is innovative, and we have found the cheese slicer!
Many foreigners appreciate the cheese slicer when visiting Norway. And therefore, the cheese slicer is stolen many places. It is an invention made by Norway, and this means that we also can compete, and that we can make products to pleasure for their utility!
The cheese slicer was discovred and patented by the master carpenter Thor Bjørklund from Lillehammer in 1925. It was put into production in 1927. And all the products we are surrounded by from time to time has their unique and special history. They are not coming from nothing!
Thor Bjørklund had annoyed that is caused problems to cut the cheese nicely when using a knife, and this frustration made the invention of this new product! Up until 2009 Thor Bjørklund og Sønner AS was the only producer in Norway! Bjørkland made the invention of the cheese slicer based on a regular joinery!
Thor Bjørklund made the invention of the cheese slicer to be patented on the 27 February 1925. Then the prototype consisted of four parts. These things were a blade of eggs, a pliers, a pin and a shaft. The cheese slicer has made it possible to cut solid cheeses, and it has also been possible to cut the special whey cheese with it. This tool can be used to cut potatoes in thin flakes, and is can also be used for cutting asparagus and cucumber. Hence, it is just your imagination and creativity that defines the ways o fusing the cheese slicer. In future, there will probably be more usage areas for the cheese slicer! A cheese slicer can be used to cut the cucumbers in thin slices.
The cheese slicer has as many products that are invented, been developed with new variants since the very start in 1925. But the principle is the same as when one started to produce this tool. And today, there have been made more than 50 millions of these cheese slicers!
The firm Thor Bjørklund og Sønner AS went bankrupt in 2009. After, that the special firm and the rehabilitation firm GIAX has succeeded to the production and the sale of cheese slicers at Otta and in Ringebu.
We recommend that the cheese slicer will be in the markets still more in future. And Norway can make new variants of it, and the sale can be in national and international markets. There is entry strategies, culture, and language connected to be within a new country. We wish good luck to everybody!
