The printed press is a free press. You can use the freedom of writing and write things in accordance with histories, traditions and rules inside the press location. You need an ink or a paper or a medium to write a message!

Harvard has The Free Press. And this can be used in sensible or stupid ways. Few Norwegian persons have been there, but many persons abroad have been there. And this shows that Norway is a little country in the world. We are just some global villages in own towns and districts.

In the second millennium, the spreading of the text was perhaps the greatest and most influential discovery, and it has happened in globally ways. You cannot think of any better than the right and the possibility to write something down, and being able to read it. You have the freedom of reading, and the choice of selecting the location for reading what you are reading when reading.

A press just writes down what you are thinking, feeling or speculating about, and you can it in several channels in the media. In Germany in 1440, the printing press was discovered by Johannes Gutenberg. This started just a printing revolution in Europe! Woodblock printing in East Asia had been prevalent in China’s Tang dynasty since the 8th century! Hence, the printing technoloy has lasted from a long time! We can just write about something with precision when we have all diversity in all places available at the same time. We choose some variants of all possible in the press. And we do it in a readable, exciting and interesting way!

Today, you find the printing press in all printing materials that are available in the world! You need just a press that is writing, and you can thereafter publish it to the pleasure and enjoyment of everyone in every country! This is a great discovery, and the quality of the press and the other opportunities are getting better and richer, and they are also more user-friendly! So in future, you should use the technology and your human brain to operate!

Gutenberg’s most important innovation was the development of the hand-moulded metal printing matrices. This was producing a movable type –  based printing press system! The art of printing in Europa was now the printing press and the hand-moulded system. These two inventions dramatically reduced the costs of printing, and that was true for books and documents. This happened particularly for shorter print runs!

Within several decades, the printing press spread to over 200 cities in a dozen European countries. By 1500, the printing presses in Western Europe had produced more than twenty million volumes. During the 16th century, the printing press spread it even more intensively, and it reached a number of between 150 and 200 million copies! The printing press became the new medium of expression and of communication, and one therefore used the name: «The Press»!

The spreading of the papers in the press to many people and organizations, implied that we got the mass communication. With many small and precise messages, one could reach many people at the same time. This permanently altered the stucture in different societies. The relatively large and unrestricted circulation of information, captured the masses during the Reformation in religious societies during the 1700s. The sharp increase in literacy, broke the monopoly of the elite, and the educated and learning parts of the different societies. The masses got the information, and hence any person had the same knowledges and conditions as any other person! Across Europe, this implied a larger self-awareness and nationalism during the 1800s. In the 19th century, we got Gutenberg’s invention replaced in steam-powered rotary presses, and this technology made it possible to produce papers on an industrial scale!

The history of printing in the world start for several years ago. We have had many technolgies since the very start, and the most known are: The printing press, Rotary press, Inkjet printing, Screen printing, Laser printing, Solid ink printing and 3D printing. Today, many newspapers around the world use a printing press for distribution to private and organizational purposes. And the main solution today, is to use the digital opportunities, and the internet that is available for reading.
