Bob Marley was from Jamaica, and he was a musician. His full name was Robert Nesta Marley, and the nickname for his forename was Bob!

Bob Marley was most known for the music variant Reggae. He was guitarist and vocalist. Hence, he liked to play and to sing! He was an expert in the ska-groups, in the rocksteady-groups and in the reggae-groups The Wailers and Bob Marley & The Wailers. Marley is the most sold reggae-musician in the world with more than 75 millions of albums.

Bob Marley was born in Nine Mile at Jamaica in 1945, and he died in 1981 in Miami in USA. Hence, he was 36 years old when he died. Bob was born in a village, and he was 10 years old when his father died of heart attack in 1955, just 70 years old.

Bob Marley became known when he cooperated with Neville «Bunny» Livingston. He played music together with Neville. Bob ended the school when he was 15 years old, and he started when to be an apprentice at the local welder. In Bobs spare time, he played together with Livingston and Joe Higgs. Higgs is one of Bobs many mentors, and Higgs used motivation and coaching to come further in the music. During an exercise with Higgs, Bob and Livingston met Peter McIntosh, also named as Peter Tosh.

In 1962, Marley played in his two first songs, and they were called for «Jugde Not» and «One Cup Coffee and Chocolate». He did it together with the music producer Leslie Kong. On making no judgement means that you should not assess things and person to heavily! And a cup of coffee and a chocolate is something we can experience all of us, also several times! These two songs got really little attention worldwide. It was later on, in 1966, that Bob, Bunny and Peter began to play together with the wellknown producer Lee «Scratch» Perry that they really became recognized and on the hit lists in Jamaica with the song «Simmer Down». That is a song about doing cooking and ending the cooking when you have finished your goals at the kitchen! So, it is relevant for many people, since many people need the kitchen from time to time! Bob included two more people in the group, and this was the drummer Carlton Barrett, and the bassist Aston «Familiyman». The group «The Wailers» tried to produce music, and in 1973 came their debut album «Catch A Fire». We should avoid as many fires as possible, but when the fire is there, you should take care of yourself and of other people surrounding the fire! Later on in the same year, in 1973, came «Burning» which among other things contain the songs «Get Up, Stand Up» and «I Shot The Sheriff». After this, The Wailers became a popular reggaeband at Jamaica and in Great Britain!

In 1974, Peter Tosh and Bunny chose to start their own solo career, and Bob replaced them with his wife Rita Marley and with the persons Judy Mowatt and Marcia Griffiths. The year after, that is in 1975, Bob Marley and The Wailers came with the album «Natty Dread», and this album contains several of their known songs as: «No Woman, No Cry», «Rebel Music» and «Lively Up Yourself». The album got an amazing great success internationally!

In 1976, the album «Rastaman Vibration» was delivered to the markets. In December the same year, Bob Marley and The Wailers should participate in a peace concert in Kingston. Three days before the concert, Bob was shot, but he survived! But he entered the concert, and song about «One Love». After this shooting shock, he determined to live in London! After living in London for 14 months, Bob returned to Jamaica with the albums «Survival» and «Uprising». In 1980, Bob Marley and the Wailers played in Harare on Zimbabwes detachment day! Both Prince of Wales Charles and prime minister and later on president of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe were present!

Bob Marley died too young, he was just 36 years. But he managed to do a lot. He died of skin cancer, and he got two strokes before he died in 1981 in Florida.

Bob Marley has received the awards after his death. He got the Grammy Award in 2001, and before that he got the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. His memory will always be present among us, and Bob was great!
