Unlucky Mouse
One mouse was very unhappy, because cats did not notice her. Her brothers, sisters, and friends constantly boasted that they managed to get away from an angry cat. Sometimes some of them were eaten, and all the rest were very sad and called them heroes. Only this gray mouse was not taken seriously - cats simply didn’t pay attention on her.
She was able to get close to a sleeping cat and pull its whiskers. But a cat just rolled over on the other side.
She could go out in the middle of a road in front of a hungry cat who was hurrying to find a prey. A cat pushed it away with its paw and walked past.
Once this mouse came to a garbage can near which sat as many as ten cats. The mouse crept closer and then started to run with all her speed. She ran round the corner and stopped: no one followed her.
Then she came closer and again got away again. This time, she loudly squeaked as from fear.
She ran round the corner and stopped again. The cats did not seem to notice her.
Then she went to the cans for the third time and cried: "Are not you ashamed? Don’t you see a MOUSE here?!"
But the cats did their own thing. One rummaged in the garbage, another gnawed a sausage skin, and third one tapped a fish skeleton. No one looked at the mouse, as if she was not here.
In sorrow, the mouse came to the barbershop. She curled her whiskers, powdered her tail, and tied a bow on her hair, and finally perfumed with mouse perfume. And again she came to the garbage cans, but there was no one. Only a small striped kitten was playing with a candy wrapper.
Then the mouse sat down right in front of him. The kitten was so embarrassed that pressed his ears and turned his tail to her.
The mouse went around him and sat down in front of him again.
The kitten was completely embarrassed and asked: "Excuse me ... Did you want to tell me something?"
I wanted to, "said the mouse." I wanted to draw your attention that here, in front of you is a MOUSE!"
The kitten was silent for a while, and then said quietly: "I cannot believe it. I've never seen a mouse so beautiful."
And the mouse suddenly felt hot. And the tip of her powdered tail became pink.
She asked: "Are you telling truth?"
The kitten answered: "Of course." And added: "Why don’t we take a walk together to the next garbage can?"
And they went for a walk.
