FACTORS AFFECTING THE PERFORMANCE OF STUDENTS IN BUSINESS STUDIES IN JSS CLASSES IN SOME SECONDARY SCHOOL.

INTRODUCTION.
It is generally accepted that business studies train's the mind of the individual who engaged in learning it. And for any person to participate effectively in the affairs of any society which he/she belong to,the possession of health, lively and alert mind is imperative. However, the learning of business studies is a mental excise designed to keep the mind busy thereby providing a sort of occupational therapy. The study of business studies extends beyond this. Apart from the fact that business studies contributes to personal fulfilment of individuals, one of the aim of learning business studies is the building up of individual personality and potential.
The impacting of commercial knowledge in the populace becomes important. Consequently, the teaching of the subject right from the junior secondary school level must be properly done.
THE COMPONENT OF BUSINESS STUDIES
The components of business studies include typewriting,bookkeeping, shorthand, office practice, and commerce. While economics, commerce, and accounting are offered in the senior secondary school level.

THE BACKGROUND OF THE CASE STUDY
The case study of this research is Nigeria. Nigeria in the field of education is divided into 6 zones for easy implementation of the education system.
Below is the list of the zones and the states that fall under them.

1. North central -(7states) Niger, kogi,Benue, plateau, Nasarawa, kwara,and FCT
2. North East -(6 states ) Beauchi,Borno,Taraba,Adamawa,Gombe,and Yobe
3. North West-(7states )Zamfara,sokoto,kaduna,kebbi,katsina,kano,and jigawa.
4. South East -(5states) Enugu,Imo,Ebonyi,Abia,and Anambra
5. South south -(6states) Bayelsa,Akwa Ibom,Edo,River, Cross River,and Delta
6. South West-(6syayes) Oyo,Ekiti, Osun,Ondo,Lagos, and Ogun.
   These six zones, 3 religions are practice (i.e.) Christian religion, Islamic religion, and traditional religion. Most people of the area are engaged in informal setting with few having job in the formal sector. Some people engage in petty trading While others involve themselves in mining.
   The fact that business studies prepared students to acquire preliminary knowledge of business studies and to relate the knowledge and skills acquired to the national economy reveals that the subject is of great importance. The interest here therefore, is in the performance of students in business studies junior secondary school in Nigeria.
   This write up is concerned with junior secondary schools as stated in the national policy on education Business Studies is one of the basic pre-vocational subjects offered at junior secondary school level. There are some factors affecting Business studies as a course especially at junior secondary schools.
   Many students including some parents take Business and office education which to be mainly vocational education which has less support for there general education and that. It is only suit for the subject and is a very serious factor that is affecting business studies .

PURPOSE FOR THE RESEARCH
I made this research because i noticed that some schools in Nigeria are business studies for granted, in the sense that if you go to some schools, the teachers teaching business studies are not train to teach business business studies, and sometimes if you go to their library business studies textbook are difficult to be found there.
I am a kind of person who loves business and i wish i have enough capital to establish more business for the benefit of my family and the society. Thank you.
