Oh, absolutely. I just can't imagine living in those times when I'm sure it was commonplace. It it surprising to think of the fact that it really wasn't "that" long ago!
The amount of skeletons in my family's closet could surely fill a graveyard. I'm almost afraid to explore it... even in fiction. I probably will someday, as even this tiny little glimpse really opened up some source of creativity that I haven't ever been able to tap into before.
