The Promotion of the Book ‘Intercultural Competence in Foreign Language Teaching’
What does it mean for Steemit community? Can we teach each other something?
I believe Steemit is a great platform where pupils would be encouraged to post their work and interact with others. They would be incentivized to put themselves in the mindset of 'others'. Sadly, it involves ‘almost’ real money so I could get in trouble if I shared it with my classes. They are simply too young to consider money market, cryptocurrency, exchange rate and so on.
Being an English teacher I am naturally interested in new methods of teaching.
The book I mentioned talks about how to integrate understanding of different cultures in a lesson plan. How to make pupils broaden their scope of thinking outside of their native culture.
The book teaches us about basic terms in the field to the latest published research. The author Ana Petravić skillfully interpreted the most important findings so reader can save time and draw better conclusions.
I would say that this book is a must-read material for any current student of foreign language teaching! Not available in English as far as I know but there might be an excerpt or a manuscript available in you contact the author Ana Petravić. Link to her consultation (‘konzultacije’) address.

The Intercultural Approach to EFL Teaching and Learning
One of the reviewers at the promotion was my dear professor and mentor Jelena Mihaljević Djigunović. It was nice to hear her give a short lecture again!
On a side note, the promotion was held in the headquarters of Školska knjiga, a major Croatian publisher. It is located very close to Croatian National Theatre (HNK).
HNK is Located on Marshal Tito Square
There is an opera on the schedule which premiered recently. It is 'The Cunning Little Vixen' by Leoš Janáček.
They put an unconventional installation that advertises it:
Poster and a short description of the opera:
The opera had its world opening night on November 6, 1924 and it was shown in Zagreb for the first time in 1939. The libretto was written by the author himself after a comic book by Stanislav Lolek to which he added a story written by Rudolf Těsnohlídek of the daily newspaper Lidové noviny. The story became very popular because of its satirical content that is abundant with humor and erotic elements, as well as the Moravian dialect. Jánaček composed a three-act opera on this material portraying the life cycles of the human and animal worlds. The humans and the animals exist in their parallel worlds, but they intermingle, yet keeping their own particularity. But between these two worlds there is a gap that is manifested throughout the plot and the mutual understanding of the characters. Even though in this opera both humans and animals speak the same Czech dialect, they just do not understand each other.
