Gone are the days when this was a forest, a deep jungle full of animals and plants, research projects go on here for long years, my grandfather told me of creatures found here, amazing! He always describe them as amazing, the river flows deep into the ocean, visitors comes here to find a rare scenery of nature kissing perfectly mother earth each night. The joy of nature didn't last long.

Then came the capitalist as they always did, driving the world insane with their idea all for money, they twisted the hands of the government into redirecting the course of the waters, channeling it into a pipe to dispense it directly to the ocean, perfect idea uhn? Yes, as it seems first it was. Till the river dried up and the fishes left, we thought things will be better but no, it didn't, the ground started cracking for draught, activist came up to besiege the government house, shutting the president of that year in his presidential palace, after many hunger strikes by activist and riot with protest here and there, the fight waned off, the forest starts to fall apart as they fell each trees and never care to replant. They never needed to anyway. It's meant to clear it for bigger constructions, erected building going higher into the sky.

They all started it well, in few years the forest has gradually taken the shape of a futuristic city, 'shame upon the earth protesters' graced the front page of the papers, since they could see the beauty now, all of them has kept quiet. None dare talk, though some have been silenced with money already.

Then the unseen became seen, the global economic crisis came and made company who wouldn't bow down to nature pleas fall down flat to the money they made. That wasn't enough, they all closed down, leaving the project as it is.

Years has passed now and nothing has been done here, the ground left cracking has paved way for sandstorm to come in, six years down the line, the once beautiful jungle is now a desert, thanks to all who remain silence, a very big thank you to the corrupting capitalist too.

As I sat down here, I just couldn't stop reminiscing on how this place looked like years ago.

The ugly side of urbanization if nature isn't considered. Desertification is also a problem.

The world is changing and not always for the best.. it's sad what people can do to mother nature. Many of the actions are irreversible now and it will take hundreds years for nature to recover.. the only thing we can do is be cautious and spread awareness. Thank you for sharing!
