I keep saying I am going to sit on my hands for a while to recharge my upvote power, then something like THIS shows up in my feed. Very well said! I think to some extent really great creative writers are also really great actors. They have to BECOME the character in order to show the character realistically , even when it is someone totally opposed to themself. But we always have bits and pieces of ourselves and people we love or hate in our work. The challenge is to put those pieces together in ways that leave it fiction but good fiction.
