Television often the pictures Australia as a land of venomous reptiles, So when you say you were out playing in the bush I immediately saw your Lego figures battling brown snakes.
I'm sure there would have been snakes around (in the summer months). I did see a few of them as a kid. Not there in Bendigo though. It's every (Lego) man for himself in the Australian bush land.
