China is going to try to launch an artificial moon?

in #writing6 years ago (edited)

You all hear about the artificial moon plans yet? Apparently if the first one works then plan on putting up three more, and.. Heck.. Who knows.. Maybe before long we're going to have a ton of these things up in the sky?
Kinda creepy, but kind of cool also if it were used responsibly for certain situations like disaster relief.

However.. If they use it full time for street lamps like they suggest.. I dunno.. I think that might come with some problems.. Especially in regards to the natural cycles of the wildlife in that area. I guess we'll see how it works, it does sound really interesting and futuristic.

And ya know.. Maybe our actual moon is artificial as well, there's some really weird stuff going on with that thing and a lot of scientists and people in general are puzzled by many aspects of it. Not to mention a lot of other weird artificial looking stuff going on with other planets and things in space. Really makes one wonder how some of this stuff was formed.

"If the launch of this moon is successful, three more could follow in 2022, Wu told China Daily. Wu estimated the city of Chengdu could save around $174 million (1.2 billion yuan) in electricity ever year if the artificial moon illuminated 31 square miles of the city. Artificial moonlight could also serve other purposes, he suggested, like illuminating disaster zones during blackouts."

I saw this as well. Its such an interesting concept. However, I wonder about the repercussions. I doubt it would hold enough mass to effect earths gravity or tidal rhythms or anything like that but supposedly it will be 8 (or 18?) times brighter than the actual moon. I wonder how that will effect nocturnal animals and things like that? Its interesting nonetheless.

Yeah it's probably not going to be good for the animals even though they "assure" us otherwise.
That's one of my main concerns as well I should have included in the article. Though it was more of just a quick post than an in depth one.. But yeah.. I bet it's going to mess up the natural cycles of nature a bit unfortunately.. Though if they could just use it responsible for disaster relief I think that might be beneficial!
*PS Think I will edit something in about the animals as that is important for people to consider and it'll only take a moment.

What a horrible idea. Light pollution is so bad in most urban areas that even the brightest stars are elusive. Now they want to put lights into orbit?
A pox on them I say.

I tend to agree. I see a use for it in disaster relief but outside of that.. Not really. Seems like outside of that it will be a problem.

I wonder if there will be an "off" switch.

Is this an April fool's joke done early? What the heck China?!?!? China isn't serious. They also wanted to make a moon base though. So there is that also.

Lol. Seems to be pretty serious, and in regards to the moon base, I wouldn't be surprised if they already have one or if there are US bases or Russian bases or even ET bases up there, there's some weird stuff people have found in pictures of it.. So yeah.. I think there's a lot more going on in space than we are being told, and as we enter the space age we will probably learn more and more of what has been kept secret from us.

Waooo.... que increíble, como vemos que la tecnología avanza cada vez mas y si china logra su objetivo tomara la delantera, que grandioso seria poder ver esto de verdad que sii.. =D

I dunno about taking the lead or who really has it, but.. They would be the first to publicly put an artificial moon of such nature in space indeed. And that's quite an accomplishment.

Really? Mucking around with the universe does not bode well for me.

I didn't know about this. It sounds interesting from a technical point of view, its launch, its mass, its size, its orbit, the material it will be made of, etc. But who knows the negative consequences it could bring?
