An article I made for my Facebook audience to promote steemit to them.

in #writing6 years ago (edited)

I made this for my Facebook audience to try to get more of them over here and.. Figured I might as well share it here as well! Maybe someone here on steemit will find something useful or interesting out of this. I dunno.. But.. Hey, I typed it up.. Might as well share it.

I've been sort of quiet about steemit lately as I've been studying it and watching it and waiting to see how things feel.

I have seen some questionable things the deeper I get into the behind the scenes and the more I mingle with powerful people.
Plus seeing the value going from around $8 or $9 all the way down to where it is now at around $1 has been concerning for many.

My account used to be worth 50 thousand dollars, right now it's worth around 5 thousand.

That's definitely concerning, however.. I don't think it's going to fall apart, I still think it's just getting started.
And.. There's still time for others to get involved before it hits critical mass, though I think more and more time is running out.

Part of that decline in value I think are the delays in SMTS, but the main thing I think is bitcoin struggling and the rest of the market reflecting what bitcoin is doing.

Things could be weird for a while depending on what bitcoin does as the rest of the market seems to mirror it to an extent.

So.. I'm not as worried as many might be who don't understand that important factor, and if bitcoin ever dropped down and became much less valuable, I have to think other coins would start to rise and take their rightful place.. So if bitcoin is struggling, that's not necessarily a good or bad sign to me either, it might be a good thing.

Apparently the next hardfork is scheduled for September 25 I think.. And after that, the next hardfork is SMT's and some other neat stuff.

Many people think SMT's are what is really going to make steemit go up in value a lot, and.. It looks like.. We still have a window here!

I thought it would close much sooner, which is why I made posts sort of like this around a year ago.. Telling people.. I think it's going to go up and you have a window.

I was wrong in the sense that, it's gone down, lol. But.. In all reality, for anyone who believes in this platform or who still wants to get in before the masses saturate it.. This is a golden opportunity to mine some extra steem before the masses pile on.

Time is ticking though.. If steemit is going to blow up some day like I think it is.. Then.. We're only 2 hardforks away most likely.
It might still be before the year ends, however.. I have a feeling it'll be early next year the way things are going.

Either way.. I see this building again.. I just speed read through the planned update, and.. There's very little criticism.. It's almost all people just excited which is unusual cause there's almost always lots of people bitching about things.

It really does look more and more like.. Things are lining up for good growth in this area. And I'm getting excited again!
I have a feeling it's going to go up around Christmas/The New year and.. When it does, this time I'm going to take some profits out and get a few things.. :)

If you dunno what steem is.. It is a cryptocurrency linked to new social media.
The main site is steemit which is like Facebook but you get paid to post, yet now there's decentralized apps for virtually everything from the old internet.

IE.. They have an instagram replacement called steepshot, a YouTube replacement called Dtube, a soundcloud replacement called Dsound and many many more, pretty much every social media has been replaced and is on the NEW internet where you can get paid for interacting, and you can't be censored unless you go to EXTREME levels.

This in my opinion is likely to be the future, an attention based economy is more and more coming into view, ultimately it's what we already have.. Many just don't realize it.

What we're going to see I think though is that people in the future will be much more rewarded for where they put their attention and the businesses that reward their customers more will do better than those who censor them and greedily take all their potential earnings and "value".

I feel glad that I'm there early, before the masses hit. I'll probably make a lot of money and have a lot of influence because of it. If you want to get started and would like to make some money for your time spent on social media, lemme know! I'm happy to help.

Will answer any questions you have to the best of my ability and I'll help you get started as well and offer some tips and tricks. Either leave a comment or you can send me a private message as well if you don't want to leave a comment.

Oh.. One thing I wanted to mention that helped me put things into perspective about all this is.. In a discussion I read between some people on steemit arguing about it's viability..

One person made a poignant comment.. He said something like.. "Even those who talk the most shit and bitch about steemit the most, can't seem to quit."

So.. Even if the biggest critics can't quit.. Then damn.. This is probably pretty addicting stuff and it's probably going to go up.

Based on my understanding. Facebook was created with a casino mentality in mind and that's one reason it's SOOO addictive and many people can't even quit to go to something better.

They designed it to addict you and make it difficult to quit.. Well. Now imagine Facebook, but.. You get paid for your content, and it's nearly impossible to get censored unless you do something atrocious.

Yeah.. I mean.. It just makes so much sense to me.. I really think this is the "new" Facebook, and before too long a lot of the most popular corporations out there will be using gamification ideas and focusing on the "attention economy" and rewarding their customers who give them attention more.

I see so much behind the scenes at steemit, so many different groups and programs and initiatives and applications and games and.. I just don't see it going away. I only see it evolving into more and more and better ways of doing such.

Even just the poker players ALONE and no one else.. I don't think they want to give up their "gambling" so to speak. And.. They shouldn't have to. That's a personal choice. Anyone harmed by gambling takes that risk upon themselves and chooses to participate voluntarily. It shouldn't be illegal.

I mean.. I could be wrong, but I really think I'm right.. I think this is the direction technology is heading, and it's probably going to be more difficult for those who get on board late in regards to cryptocurrency unfortunately.. I'm so glad I listened to my friend when he told me to try it out almost two years ago.. I have thousands of extra dollars and a whole new understanding of so many different things in life.

Anyways I think I ranted enough for now. Hope you consider the new technology and if you have any questions feel free to ask! Peace.

Great post, @apolymask. I'm still learning about Steemit and don't understand fully how to manage the crypto side of things. I told @jan23 that I needed a steemit accountant to manage that side of things (at least until I catch on).

I hope you're right in that many better days are ahead for Steemit. I like it just for the inspiration and community here. Totally different experience than facebook with quite a different concept. I try all the time to get my creative friends over here ...but they don't wanna ;) Some think it's a scam, some don't like the idea of crypto ( I had a similar idea about it initially - crypto in general).

I wish I knew enough about it to answer their questions, but alas I do not. But I do know this is a great community and I want it to thrive.

I think that’s a perfect amount of information for FB friends that aren’t familiar. You get into detail but still I think a basic user could understand too.

I love it! Did you get any positive responses on FB?

Spoken from the heart mate, as usual, your raw and this community loves you for it.

@apolymask, I'm interested in the same topic as you, let's spin it together. I signed on to you, I hope you'll sign up for me. Always glad to meet new people!

Hello @apolymask, thank you for sharing this creative work! We just stopped by to say that you've been upvoted by the @creativecrypto magazine. The Creative Crypto is all about art on the blockchain and learning from creatives like you. Looking forward to crossing paths again soon. Steem on!
