We live in a world where we are often or most times stuck with issues. Issues that we pretend to be in control over, but in reality we are their underdogs. Everytime we try to conquer, we are left broken and turned to a total failure. We often go beserk at the creator for even bringing us into this world but sometimes, we are thankful for who we are-secretely. Most times we get stucked with those we percieve to be the wrong people in our lives and due to our empathy we fail to.speak our minds out to them. Later, we see them walking on the other way, far away from us and we are left to wonder why they left. Today, we will be with them and be bereft with their pesky attitude that we would only hope for them to be totally gone. Therefore, we are left with unanswerable questions. Is this something we have no control over? Is this who we were made to be? Can we ever get away from all these? Can we ever be normal? But here's the big question. Do we have control over our destiny?
TWO DAYS BEFORE PALM SUNDAY
The morning devotion started first with the usual deep songs of praise to the Almighty, followed by the explanation of the bible text for that day. You had looked at your father with admiration as you still wondered how his baritone voice still existed at a ripe age of fifty-eight years. He still had the beauty your mother had fallen in love with. He still stood tall and shoulder high amongst his peers and still had his dark skin colour which you were not lucky to get. After the physical assesment, you had looked round the sitting room you were having the devotion. Nothing had changed and all still remained like it had since your birth till the last day you left the house 19 years ago. Your eyes had scanned the room and all the portraits hanging on the wall. You could see the familiar picture of you, your siblings and your mother and you were taken back in time to the day of hurt and regret.

You were still nineteen when it had happened. When the world seemed to be spinning and it felt like you were the only one that was created for bad things to happen to. After the autocrash had taken your immediate younger brother to the bossom of hades, your mother had fallen ill, and as a result added to her loss of weight. She grew so thin that even the wind of a running vehicle could sweep her off, to be seen five poles away. After twelve months and six days, she got back to her feet and could do things as she used to. Few days after, your father had come home from Mali after fighting for three months in the country. Normally, you would have said he was normal till things started happening, and the roses turned black. The whole story of love you had grown up to witness between your parents went sour on the day your dad raised his hand to hit your mother on the face. It was like that was the opening credit of the movie that starred you and your life. After the incident, your father found pleasure in humiliating your mother. Monday would stand for shouts, followed by a Tuesday of Crashing of plates, a Wednesday of punching rehearsals, till the Friday of guns and bullets that had finally knocked your mother out of this world, after weeks of humiliating routine.

But you were still here, in the same room with the person that had taken your 'Joy of the world'. You knew it was not his fault and could still live peacefully with him. Although growing up with him alone had been the main issue of your life. He had always treated you like a baby, siezing your phone and placing you under house arrest. Most times, when you needed money, he would not give to you, and would not let you go out to work. Life became unbearable with him as you had hated him every single day of your teenage life until one very day that he produced himself as your guardian angel.
You had gone home for the holiday as usual and had been locked inside the house for weeks. You had lost contact with the outside world and even your close friends. No one could come see you, as you could not see them either. Your precious companion-phone- was siezed with no concrete reason and all you could do was play games and watch movies which in no time bored you. You had begun to doubt if this man was really your biological father and if he does really like you. You had began to question the Almighty on the reason you got stucked with a man like this and you even had mapped out your strategy of your personal revolution. On that fateful day, the day when the cloud had gathered, blocking the vision of the sun, your father had travelled and you were left alone. Out of joy, you had made plans for your adventure that day and had planned to drive round the city of Lagos with your very close friend. You had prepared your camouflage round neck and a pair of sneakers to go out with. As you stepped out of the house, ypu saw your father driving back home, fear gripped you as your head started calculating the next thing to do. You had now gotten into a quicksand of problems, and you have no escape route. Your father had cancelled his trip and your adventure was noy going to hold again. As you both were in the house arguing, you heard a knock on the door, followed by a barge.
"Teru just died in a car accident" the fragile security man of your estate had blurted out in a shaky voice. You looked up at your father with tears in your eyes, pain in your heart and love growing in you. You had stood there, feeling thankful to your father because he had just saved your life, but you still felt the hatred for him always keeping you indoors.
PALM SUNDAY
"What state are you from?" your father asked
"Abia State“ she replied and you knew this was the fuck up that you had been waiting for. To avoid further questions, you stand up to walk to the kitchen, but you are called back by your father. You could see the anger showing in his face as he looks at you deeo in the eyes. Two days before palm Sunday, you both had discussed about your marriage, and you did not disclose to him your intention of marrying a lady that was not from your tribe. He had hammered in that very day that you should bring home a lady he could call daughter and you were fed up with his dictative attitude. You had known this day would come and that was why you did the unthinkable. That was why you had taken safety measures to secure your marriage with her.
"Did you hear me?" your father says, bringing you out of your daydream rift. You look at him in the eyes and you could feel the hatred you had last felt before your friends death three years back. You look over at her to see her cowed in the corner of the parlour, far away from the reach of your father.
"This relationship is coming to an end here!" he finally blurts without standing up. How would I get rid of this man? you begin to wonder. Today is the day to revolt against him. He no longer has control over your life again but here you still are, bowing to his rules.
"this is madness" you finally say, causing your father and Her to look up to you.
"I am sorry sir, but she already has a daughter for me", the words flying out of your mouth and the joy filling your soul as you begin to feel like a conqueror. You begin to feel like a man and you could see the smile forming on her face.
"Bring the girl then, and break this relationship" your father answers with a beguilinh smile that tells you that this is your destiny and you have no control over it. You are stuck with him forever.
