For the last few years I've been working on a book about recollections from my early childhood. Because memories from that time do not come back to me with photographic clarity, I've drawn pictures that show what I felt during the most intense events. One of these events is depicted in the image at the top of this page. I'm not an artist, but try to give my drawings a narrative quality that will help to tell the story.

In the picture I am with my two sisters. We're knocking on the door of a paternal aunt, who lived down the road from us. We were about to ask her if she could lend us a box of spaghetti. We dreaded the chore, and we dreaded the moment my aunt would open her door, because we knew she would not be pleased. But the spaghetti was going to be our dinner, and we could not return home without it.

My book, tentatively called Arrows Axes and Scythes, will have about thirty-six drawings, and assorted photographs. Each illustration will be accompanied by an anecdote. Since this is a work in progress, I 'm not certain about the final form.

Perhaps I will share more of my pictures and some of the anecdotes on Steemit in future blogs.

It’s a good story and idea! I encourage you to share them here :)

Thank you... I felt a little foolish, but decided to go ahead. Appreciate the encouragement.

I understand! It's not always easy to find your niche here on steemit that's why I think it's good to try what you've got and see what's gonna work for you. Maybe you could create stories for children and post them with the @steemiteducation tag and I'm sure the community would welcome them. I'm just saying, maybe it doesn't suit you. I know, at the beginning it's hard to be on your own and build your reputation but inside a community is much better. I hope you'll find one that suits you :)

It is hard--but I'm not easily discouraged, about anything. There are moments of doubt, then I think, I never run out of ideas, so I trust that. And then... there are people like you who make this a receptive environment. Thanks.

That's a good thing because you need it here.
you're very welcome! I'm glad I can be that person for you :) you have my support.

Brilliant idea @agmoore, hope I can get to read the full book when you complete writing it. Your own artistic illustration gives it a more personal touch. Kudos! I had been thinking along that line of creating my own images as opposed to photographs and you beat me to it. Keep up the great imagination!

You are very kind. The drawings are crude, but they do express the feelings of the moment. Thanks for the encouragement.

Exactly - when it reflects you it is original! Thank you for the opportunity to network with you.

Likewise :)

I like the picture. It has kind of a retro feel. Like an old video game or something.

You're very kind. Very simple, almost childlike, but it does convey a memory accurately.
