My experience is that you end up used and not reworded. Also it creates not healthy environment and competition. For example someone has more obligations at home and then it can't perform at the equal level. Team efficiency in the working time is crucial for the benefit of all.
One bad example is one my friend's company where they employed only divorced men. So he ended up loosing his job because he couldn't compete with people staying overtime and performing more. He has 2 kids and he has to commit some time for his family also.
This is exactly what I think you have to think of the personal well-being also. Company is competing on the market but at the end work-time has to be regulated to stop overtime and reduce overtime to minimum.
If the overtime is constantly required than company has to employ more people.
