Backyard alter / sanctuary from D-logssteemCreated with Sketch.

in #woodworking7 years ago

We've recently been running some D-log from pine 6 x 8's. We start by running the rough wood through a 12'' moulder.

Then we start cutting to size and stacking the logs. Each log is sealed to the previous one using 9'' lags and construction adhesive. Taking extra care to do the windows and doors properly. These are a few shots of our first two, our lead man is a finish carpenter who also has this as his first task with us. Great fella, it's a learning process both in design and building, as this is unfamiliar territory for the both of us.

Starting at the bottom and patiently working upwards. My first experience building a roof from 4 x 6's.

Here we are deciding on a window profile. Neither of us are sure yet.

Awesome........ I love this stuff.....ill build me a log home one day.......

Depending on how far away you are, maybe I'll come and stack it with you.

Gosh this is such great craftmanship. You are talented. Thank you

Thank you very much, always learning.

Great post, @jerryt, and a good contest candidate. Any chance we can see closer pics of the corner joint. Do you trim off the tongue, or cut a cross groove? And how do you punch out the electrical box mortices?

Thank you, we cut a cross groove, I'll snap a pic tomorrow, or as I call it day 13 in a row.

Here you go @skycranehandwork, as far as wiring, we just drilled and chiseled these.
