Hi Mike! It's me again. Great post, I had no idea about this whole issue. Still newbie, still learning :) this is totally new to me. Thank you for bringing this up and for the instruction on how to set a proxy. I will delve deeper into this topic. Looking forward to more of your posts :)
Definitely get yourself informed by reading up on the witnesses and make informed decisions. If you choose to proxy, choose someone who is active in your niche, or community, and support your Steem goals.
Educating yourself about the platform is always the best policy!

Like Paula, I've slowly been adding my Witness votes as and when I've seen something that's made me want to support them.
I'm up to 26, which isn't so bad. I just don't want to tick 4 more names without a reason too.
2 names I would like to see on everyone's list are @aggroed and @lukestokes.mhth - glad to see them appear above.

yeah I find myself in the same position. I am currently at 25, really don't see any other names dying to be added at the moment. I can be convinced, obviously, but like you said, not just ticking names.
In the beginning I only chose people I had some sort of personal interaction with. I realized fairly quickly that the witnesses were a bit too busy for me to contact each and every one of them, so I had to read up and figure out who I wanted to trust.
While I stated above that using a proxy is a good idea, I don't do it for myself, as I know I am unlikely to agree 100% of the time with anyone I might choose.
Yes I prefer not to take the proxy route also, and had the same plans as you before meeting the same conclusion!
A few more months and I'll be up to 40 I think.

Oh I have also not used my 30 votes....will get onto it but I am rather selective and for me need a reason to vote for one...
Thanks Paula! It would be hard to put together stuff like this without referring to your amazing research! I need to work on being able to get some stats on my own. ;-)
