HardFork 0.20.0 Might Be Closer Than We Think - And No, It's Not The One Enabling SMT (Yet)
As I already wrote a few times, one of my favorite pastimes is to peruse the Steem GitHub repository. Not only to stay informed, as a witness, about the state of the blockchain, but also to spot any potentially disruptive changes before they actually occur.
While doing my regular check this morning I observed something interesting.
In my last post about the SMT status, I pointed out there are two possible hardforks in the projects pipeline: 0.20.0 and 0.21.0. All the SMT code was in the 0.21.0 branch and I was left thinking what's the role of the 0.20.0 milestone.
And today I saw that an inconsistency between the protocol and p2p code was observed and, given the fact that it is a bit pressing, it will be addressed in this 0.20.0 hardfork.
There is no set date for it, but I'd bet on a rather soonish release.
This is not a UI problem so most likely regular users will not even notice.
For witnesses, though, this might be a mandatory upgrade.

and why exactly by this you think the hadrfork will occur? sorry i am a noob in that kind of stuff haha. Thanks alot for giving us hope ;)
it's a change which affects block production and it must be done quickly.
Always feeding us with valuable information
@dragosroua you my true witness ... Keep steeming ..
But with the next hardfork...will posts get better earnings...😎
will this increase the steem value?
Hahaha @mirzacho 😂 I also asked same question...we need steemit value especially posts worth more like when I joined in June! 😎
@dragosroua,
What can be happened with this hardfork? Is it like what we experiencing in BTC?
Cheers~
Nope, not even remotely. Users will not even notice it. It's more for witness nodes, it won't affect consensus or other parts of the blockchain.
@dragosroua,
How about it affects on STEEM price? Thanks for the kind response friend!
Cheers~
Don't see why it would affect the STEEM Price, as @dragosroua mentioned, its mainly an update for witnesses and block production.
@sqamemal,
"block production"?
Well in a nutshell, the steem each block can store upto 375 MiB of transactions(transfers, post, comments etc) but somewhere else in the code the maximum size for a p2p message (not too sure what this means) is defined as 2 MiB. MiB is similar to MB(megabytes)

@sqamemal,
Thank you very much for sharing this useful information friend! I will check that link!
Cheers~
ah, doesn't sound like much of a celebration then ):
Awesome Post !
Thanks for sharing. I have no idea how to
Some updates fixing the recent bugs and reliability issues would be awesome.
