Witness Update, May 2018 - @asbear

Hey guys!

I am a standby witness @asbear and this is a witness update for May 2018. For the last month, I have been busy working on my projects and also communicating with the other witnesses by raising some issues.

I initiated some discussion about the geographical redundancy and the witness voting, and there were quite valuable inputs from the many top witnesses which I really appreciate. I guess I may have annoyed some other witnesses, hopefully you did not take that personally.
Do we have the best witnesses? Questions for the witnesses.
** Witness Insight project will absorb the information from the witnesses as much as possible.

I am running my witness node on one of the major cloud in us-east region with a witness switch, and now considering getting some more backup node in a different region as I now can afford it.

Steem Pay

Steem Pay is a new initiative for stimulating on/offline commerce using Steem Dollar. Payment API will be introduced in the next release.

Witness Insight

Witness Insight is designed to improve the transparency all across the Steem witnesses. This tool is helpful for the Steemians and witnesses who wants to vote to the best witnesses, and also for investors. Next version will come with the "Witness Update" section completed

Steemian Health Check

Steemian Health Check is a tool for better Steem community. @clayop and I spent quite a lot of hours on this project and launched the first version a month ago. Could not improve the tool for better filtering yet due to the massive demands of the other projects unfortunately.

Basically the tool helps to figure out who is using their Steem Power fairly or who might be abusing his SP. Currently there is some bug that is missing some report for some heavy users (making massive transactions), so I am trying to figure out the main cause.
