The question is no longer how much renewable energy do we need but when will we reach 100 % renewable energy.

The European Wind Energy Association explains than wind energy can provide 45 % of our needs.
The International Solar Energy Society says that solar can produce 35 % of our needs.
When solar is producing 35 % of our need, we do not need to store solar electricity, because the solar energy production match the energy demand.

Hydropower will provide 10 % of the energy (it is already the case in many countries)
So there is only 10 % left to be produced by biomass, wave, tidal …
