Wildflower series ~ Tremble Tops
Kohautia amatymbica are called Tremble Tops because they have a very long, slender flower stalk and they sway in the slightest breeze. This makes them extremely frustrating to photograph because it's difficult to get the camera to focus on a constantly-moving object. The flower stalks are around 40 to 50 cm long and they grow as long as they do to avoid being crowded out by tall grass stalks although this is another early spring bloomer that flowers especially after fire, while the grass is still short. This particular plant has already made seeds, which will germinate once the summer rains come, giving it time to grow and develop a large underground root that will sustain it after it dies back in winter.
I'm really enjoying your wildflower series.
I am glad that you do!
Beautiful and very lovely wild flowers! love it ❤😃❤ Amazing photography...so detailed, really really gorgeous photograph my friend.
Thank you
Dainty looking but tough. Like Scary Mary.....First picture of Mary.
Scary Mary is sweet
Especially when she is asleep. :-)
lol! I know what you mean
Glorious flowers!
I have that same problem with taking photos of flowers if the wind is blowing at all. Sometimes I want to just hold the stem, but that doesn't work because you can see my hand. Calm days are the easiest.
