The Shopping Game: 28 Jul 2020- Cheap Grocery in Singapore

in #wherein4 years ago (edited)

Many would think Singapore being the developed country, goods here will be expensive and unaffordable. But some smart vendors really think out of the box and make the goods at their shops are sold cheaper and affordable.

Here I would like to share about my today shopping to the budget shop called ABC. This franchise shops which mushroomed in many places in Singapore recent year, are operated by Philippino as majority of their staffs are Philippinos too. Their strategy of selling is just brilliant and make themselves stand out shine among the red sea, that is they import from other countries goods and products that going to expire soon eg within a year with lower price, and sell it to customers whom do not mind expiry date is near but at a discounted value.

As such, to buy stuffs from this shop especially food need to take extra cautious on the label expiry date especially chocolate, I did observe certain chocolate brand is within 2 month before expiry date. But if you would consume it within short period , that would be find because the price is dirt cheap !

Today mainly I intended to buy Milo- Chocolate malt drink which very popular in Malaysia and Singapore. Due to border lockdown, I can't travel back home country to buy, so have to buy it here in Singapore.

So after dinner, I walked to Ang Mo Kio town center for ABC. 1kg packaging is sold at $6.95. (With expiry of 1 year, super worthy)

The CIF multipurpose cleaner cream is really on fire sales! 500ml sold at $1.25 , cheapest I could find elsewhere in Singapore, last lowest I found is $1.50

Stain remover 1 liter at $1.

Lighter 1 pc $0.70 .

Snowball cake which is from Korea, sold at $1 ! (expiry till year end, still worth it)

Potato chip also only $1.25 for 160g (also worth to try , because simply can finish it within a week)

Total have spent a handsome S$28 with full bag items. This translate to USD20.31 or 99.51Steem.

That's really good strategy and if the consumer focus on less-critical items or the items which will be consumed quickly, then it is always worth buying from such a store.

Even I was also of the impression that the cost of living must be high in Singapore and after reading your post I can see an alternate way to make it cost-effective way of living there.

Snow balls, lighter and stain removers look very reasonable to me and of par value.

Have a great day.

Steem on.

Yes luckily there is such shop doing this way to spare the consumers another choice of goods. You pay what you expect . Indeed most items r still good upon buying with discounted price.
