Question: Price of Steem and Steem Dollars is Up Above $2.00. What's Going On?
Many 'wailers', with little belief in steem and how the blockchain works, have been focusing on the 'low value' of Steem. The good news for them and all of us is that both Steem and Steem dollars are now valued above $2.00. Honestly, I don't know what triggered this rise. I am only but of HODLer of Steem & some SBDs. What is going on and why the rally up in price?

Cryptocurrency markets themselves have been having a hard time. While we hate to think about it we are deeply tied to how flakey BTC has been and the losses it has taken in the short term.
There are some great things coming for Steemit and if BTC will behave everyone should be able to rise again with it very nicely.
Investors don’t like having their money sitting off the table for too long. There have been some light fears here over sliver slippage and tariffs on goods. Which always have investors a little stressed and looking for other places to park their money.
Yes, I agree with you that the behaviour of BTC has not helped steem, since it's the main crypto trading pair for steem. The recent launch of lightening network (LN) should help increase the value of BTC. Regarding investors, once they perceive improved value, they'll invest more to gain more. The fear of 'silver slippage' is a genuine one. Investors need to act fast in order to protect their investments. Thanks for your wonderful contribution and support, @enjar.

Yes. Finally, the 'wailers' will smile now. I am a HODLer and not in the group of 'wailers', especially since I've been in the cryptocurrency space for over a year and started buying #steem at $0.22. Cheers.

Really.... that is another idea that will make steemit more popular. No central body blocking people's account. Steemit is a true democracy in the social media space.
It could be a pump. The increase is like magic. Hopefully it goes on to the moon.
Twitter blocking your account: Is that a sort of campaign against the advertisements of cryptos. Steemit should leverage on this. Provide some sort of advert space for cryptos then watch as the masses come forth.
@maryfavour Really? I tweet about steem all the time. The only time I had issues with Twitter was when they temporarily suspended my account, which was lifted when I provided proof of ownership. Did they tell you the reason for the suspension?

Hmm...you assumption might be correct, @juvyjabian. Wow! A Steemian of high reputation like you know what he is talking about. My assumption is that Steem witnesss can manipulate the price of SBDs, which could be why the price is up without any clear reason. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this matter.

It's the price of Bitcoin bouncing off of its long-term support. Altcoins, STEEM and SBD included, follow the price of Bitcoin rather slavishly.
